"I'm a sucker for a giant outro" says the girl who has I Know The End as the outro of her new album. I Know The End snatched my wig so hard it took the high speed train to Kyoto.
I swear, didn’t she mention this in an interview her love for giant outros and mention someone as an inspiration? I thought she said it was bright Eyes but I can’t for the life of me find the interview. It’s driving me nuts.
Phoebe has great taste in music. These picks were awesome. I found the Elliott Smith And Pete Krebs single in my local record store (I live in The Netherlands) shortly after this episode was uploaded. It took me 9 months to find a vinyl copy of Joanna Sternberg's LP though.
@@camskye534 Just can't get on board with the message. To me it puts good police officers in harms way. Without them we as a society would have to fend for ourselves. Which is troubling.
@@TaxinGigs You tell it how it is Elephant Ear and don't let these idiots bully you for it. Yep 99.99% of cops are actually the good guys putting themselves on the line for these undeserving pricks.
The amount of stoked Phoebe gets about the dead cops shirt is maybe the most heart warming thing I've ever seen. If I weren't already in love this would have done it.
Meanwhile she doesn’t mention anything about The Birthday Party or Nick Cave’s music. Probably because she doesn’t know anything about it. How incredibly vapid.
i listened to northsiders from that christian lee hutson album on REPEAT during my final few weeks at university and had no idea phoebe produced it. it makes the song even more special to me
Ugh I’d kill for that Cassadaga record. That album art is so much cooler then the CD version with decoder I have. I had no idea he/they won a Grammy for that.
Just watched her latest Tiny Desk vid. 2 seconds into this vid I like her even more now for her appreciation of Danelectros, which to my ears create the tastiest electric guitar tones. Actually, that may be a Silvertone on the wall, but essentially same thing.
@@theone456 it means all cops are bastardised not get rid of the cops, defund them yeah, it could be argued to get rid of it completely but acab isn’t inherently saying “get rid of the cops”
thanks for sending me down this rabbit hole by telling me who Pete Krebbs was. i'm a huge fan of elliott smith and tom waits so ill probably be down here a while
To have it on vinyl, and open it up to a huge landscape view, with inserts and extra dimensional related art, mixed with music you already love, is almost psychic movie that you build with your inner senses.
How have I only just stumbled across this channel?? I'm big into listening to new music (new to me) at the moment so these are great for recommendations!! Love it!! ... Also, it's cool when you find out famous artists listen to the same stuff as you 😆
Really a fan of this, but for future videos I hope you increase the song volume and add longer pauses between picks. The in-store videos always gave a nice little preview for each album before moving on. We don't really get much of that preview in this one, since it's so quiet and moves on so quickly. :(
I love Cassadaga! I feel like everyone I know doesn’t give that album enough love. If the brakeman turns my way is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I just read an interview on NPR where Phoebe mentioned that Elliott Smith is her inspiration which is amazing to know! Being an Elliott' Smith fan for many years and from an Elliott's music nerd to another, this means a lot to me personally! Having known his music since the late 90's and having seen him live before, it just makes me so happy to know that Elliott's music continues to influence new artists years after his passing. I have gain a new appreciation for Phoebe Bridgers music as well. Side note- Some Song and Big Decision are some of my favorite ES songs as well as Waltz #2,. It would be so awesome if Phoebe could cover them someday.
Best Bright Eyes record...Tough one: I would have to cheat and say I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning/Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. They both came out on the same day and you have one very Gram Parsons record (down to vox by EmmyLou) and one dark digital record with a NIN vibe. Also both have killer songs front to back! But Cassadaga was tracked at ARC (I believe) and that's one of my fav studios EVER! EPIC API in the B-Room with a Fairchild 670. Cassadaga sounds AMAZING! \m/ Elliott Smith is another hard call but I would go with X/O. Waltz#2 = PERFECT SONG! I also have the Elliott Smith/Pete Krebs record :P Sadly it's a copy on a CD. RAD Nick Cave poster obvo \m/
