I wish they would just keep the X Men omnibus’s in evergreen, rather then doing these collection books. Uncanny X Men omnibus 1 & 2 should never be out of print.
Absolutely agree! I want this specifically cause Pheonix is my favorite character and I want to complete the entire pheonix saga (both pheonix and dark) and this is the only way to do that now :pp I have Uncanny Xmen omni vol 1
Talking about flaps on a Phoenix omnibus is on point. 🤣 This sounds interesting as I've never read anything Phoenix-related, honestly. Thanks for the overview, Omar!
I am all for character and event centric omnis as opposed to the creator centric ones. Book of Doom, Loki and this make me wonder if there could be an Unstoppable Juggerbus on the horizon
Seems like a perplexing release, doesn't Marvel know a very large majority of the omnibus buyers who are interested in X-Men buy the Uncanny X-Men omnis? I thought this would have more content but it's very disappointing that it's just the same content in a different presentation package. Good for people who missed out initially I suppose.
I think this is aimed more at newer readers who want to get into X men 🤷♀️ I got this one because I've barely read X men books and was always interested in reading this story
Nice, I'm happy for the ppl that want this story collected separately and are unable to find the first print from a few years back, but I also understand the frustration ppl have for wanting a different, new omni to collect instead. Hopefully they continue to release reprints and more new omnis soon so every reader can get the stories they want.
Never read Phoenix saga but currently finishing out Adams run love it especially the Sentinel story. Epic. But tbh nearly gave up on era the issues prior when the X-Men split up after prof x died. The Blastaar and the Warlock issues were rough😬
Will be double dipping for this! Loved the story and love the design of this book. Already have UXM 1-2 and Classic omnis, but nice to have it all in one place!
This is one of my favorite stories in all of comics. I’ve got it already in my Uncanny X-men 1-2 so I’m going to hold off. If I knew for sure a volume 2 was coming with modern content of the Phoenix then I would more than likely buy this first volume.
saw on Amazon, there is a volume 2 comin out September. deals with days of future past, from the ashes, Rachel as Phoenix centric issues and Phoenix rising, with the 1st return of Jean
I will be getting this in July. I love Phoenix. I can't wait until X-Men the animated series The adaptation Omnibus comes out in October I will fulfill my X-Men library this year. That comes to remind me I need to get X-Men inferno.
If this edition had included issues 111-113, it would have been the perfect edition for Phoenix lovers. As the Phoenix fan I am, the lack of issues 111-113 are UNFORGIVABLE since Phoenix playerd an extremely important role in that Magneto saga.
@@norrinradius1760 Ah, thank you! That actually makes a lot of sense, but I put it off. I plan to read/reread through all of Vol. 1 and 2 in the near future anyway, so this should be fun.
@@DrakonR I know how thin this paper is, I started writing about it about two years ago, when Eternals omnibus appeared, but people said that I am werido or something like that 🙃
That’s interesting. I didn’t realise this was a repackaged reprint. If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. No need to leave all these negative comments for Omar. It’s not his responsibility.
Omar I Have a List of all of you guys Code Names OG Omar/ Wolverine Melanie/ Jean Gray Maddie/ Diana Prince Tina/ Beth Kane (Alice) Dan/ Daredevil Rob/ Link Other 1) Kurtis/ Watcher 2) Peter/ The Living Tribual 3)Lars/ Thor 4) Rylie/ Quicksilver 5/Odefel / Scarlet Witch
*_So, I tried looking this up. I was not easy to find any info on this, but what are or were "Marvel Premiere Editions", with those lovely black and gold spines?_* *_Were they just hard cover versions of the TPBs?_* *_How many came out in this series(was it a series?)_* *_Do you have a video about these versions/editions, could you lead me to this video, thanks!_*
The film went through a complicated production due to the merge of 20th Century Fox and Disney and as a consequence, the original plan of a two-films version (confirmed by Simon Kinberg, Chris Claremont and Josh Boone) had to be massively reduced to one film. The ideas that Simon Kinberg initially had, were discarded and hardly compacted. Losing key elements of the comics and also making it complex to depict in a single installment. Originally the two films would be shot consecutively, therefore two major sets were built first (the New York set for The Part One and the United Nations scenario for The Part Two).
It's weird that Luke Cage Omnibus collected the first ?3 Masterworks but the spine didn't have a Volume 1 when there are more Masterworks which could be Omnibused. Phoenix Omnibus has a Volume 1 on the spine but I'm not sure what further material could be added. I remember a 1999 limited series featuring Rachel Summers and a couple of Phoenix limited series in the early 2000s (Endsong and Warsong). There was also that bizarre manga influenced Legacy of Fire limited series which I feel isn't appropriate as well as being totally unrelated to the 616 universe. Can anyone map substantial material to fill out a volume 2?
I already own this content in UXM 1, 2 and Classics... but I guess this might be good for those fans only concerned with the Phoenix content. ...I guess. 🤷♂️ That said, I've always thought X-Men Classic #43 would have made a great choice for an omnibus cover.
Marvel NEEDS to fix paper quality. It is too thin! When images are bleeding through speech bubbles it's getting ridiculous. Heaven forbid you have a large area of white on one page with a reverse page of dark colors. Looks terrible. These are premium items, treat them as such.
When you were doing “Map My X” there was an obvious problem fitting all the issues into one omnibus if they wanted to include the Jean Grey/X-Factor issues that lead up to Mutant Massacre. But now I’ve seen how they e mapped out Phoenix Omnibus vol. 2 I see they’ve addressed that, if you look at the Uncanny vol. 5 and the New Mutants vol. 2. We’ll done Marvel. We’re still missing some X-Factor issues so I’m wondering at how they will address that since a lot of the follow up issues are in the Mutant Massacre and Fall of the X-Men omnibuses. Maybe just an X-Factor OHC filling in the gap. But I’m happy with the Phoenix vol. 2 mapping. It has all the relevant issues that lead into Mutant Massacre.
Does the Phoenix omni have smaller artwork than X-Men v1 & 2? When you did the side by side compare, the older editions artwork looks significantly bigger, as do the pages?
Maybe vol. 2 will focus on Rachel - all things Days of Future Past related, the 90s Phoenix miniseries, various issues of UXM (arrival in the "present", Selene stuff) and Excalibur (Necrom, Phoenix vs. Galactus), etc. Then vol. 3 could focus on Hope - the Messiah trilogy and possibly the main AvX. Phoenix: Endsong and Phoenix: Warsong would need to go somewhere, too - probably vol. 2 if it covers all the way up to Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire.
Hi omar, when will you release the overviews for the new printing of Teen Titans and Death of Superman? Given those are released this week it would be nice to know if they are any binding issues or other issues before purchasing. Thanks
I'm going to just stick with Uncanny X-Men volume 1 and 2. Would've probably been better had they just finished the Dark Phoenix Saga in volume 1, but nothing we can do about that now. Would I buy a Phoenix volume 2 omnibus without having a volume 1? I have no idea what would even be in a volume 2.
I got this but I’d rather they put out stuff that’s not been printed before in Omni form. Like a second silver age Hulk or Daredevil Omni. Or silver age Sub-Mariner.
Some people buy what they want to read and don’t want to simply amass collections of entire runs. I support both kinds of releases. I’m still waiting on a Hobgoblin omnibus like they did for Venom.
@@greggoat6570 I'd rather just have the whole thing in order. Hobgoblin is my favorite Spidey villain, so it really depends on what issues are included that aren't already collected in OMnibus form. Like if it included the 3 parter where Kingsley is finally revealed to be Hobgoblin, I would probably pick it up.
Okay, hear me out: Yes, this seems ridiculous because of the previous omnibus under a different name. Only that one didn't have a Vol. 1 on it. With a Vol. 1, we can get other stories in a Vol. 2, and, dare I hope, maybe a Vol. 3: Messiah Saga? This actually kinda has me excited for possibilities.
Great so now the dark phoenix saga is "obsolete". I mean the content is the same but if it's put next to the vol.2 that comes out in the future, they don't look coherent. They seem to be doing stuff like this on purpose to get people that care about little details like this to rebuy. Like with the Amzaing spider man omnibus they changed the spine in the re-releases so they would look weird af when put next to the older releases.
And the fact that the Original 3rd Act was completly cut out is a crime against humanity. Jean Gray sacrificing herself to save the earth and her family from the Skrulls invasion, was a way more emotional ending. I want to see the 1st cut so badly
