The Empire controls 12.7 million star systems. The empire has trillions of soldiers and millions of ships. Season 3 is two years before ANH. If the rebels want to be able to even remotely challenge the Empire by that time then at this point they at least need a few million rebels and a few thousand ships, especially if they even want a remote chance of getting around the imperial fleet. Let's not forget that all of those new pilots were fighting against enemies that had deadly fighters and superior experience. The rebel pilots fought against Darth Vader, mandalorian fighters, and tie interceptors; all of those threats would be a challenge for even the best rebel pilots. Now if the rebel pilots lose to tie fighters or any other basic fighters then that will be different unless they are incredibly out numbered. Besides, what makes you think that a new military is going to be able to just come out of the womb and handle an Empire that has ruled for almost 20 years, has superior technology, more weapons, more troops, and far more resources than the Republic once did? The rebels should be struggling a lot in the early war at least until after ANH when Luke rallies more to the rebel cause when he destroys the Death Star.

Bill Clark Whaaaat? These aren't full scale engagements. These are hit and run guerrilla strikes to evade detection or grab supplies. This has nothing to do with the full Rebellion operating in the outer rim. With the amount of A-Wings that they have lost in this show, they'd be able to form multiple squadrons. Where are they getting the replacement ships? There's no point for any of them. They're bantha fodder to be fed to antagonist fighters and warships. When it comes to a cash and resource strapped Rebel cell, the last thing you want to waste is your bread and butter fighters. It's why Rogue Squadron relied on their snow speeders and left their X-Wings at evacuation points waiting for them should they survive. Not. Good.

Bill Clark You don't need to type it twice. We already did see the Rebels driven to the edge of extinction - Empire Strikes Back & Revenge of the Jedi; maybe Return of the Sith. Reach is a bad example. One is a complex siege of a militarized colony and artifact retrieval, the other is a band of heroes working in the shadows. Red Dawn 1984 would be a better example, but they didn't lose the entirety of their group until the end (unlike Phoenix Squadron and their ships/pilots).

She take like 7 or 8 shots and her ship didn't explode like the other two who just take 2 fuckin shots.

to be fair... the other fighters got hit in the worst possible spots for an A-wing. Right in the engines. little armor there because of the power those engines have with a lot of explosive material like fuel right there to allow the fighter to fly at high speeds, and with that in mind, it's no wonder that the A-wings get torn apart. For Hera, they missed the engines because, as she demonstrated beforehand, she's a really good pilot and managed to avoid the fatal hit. Their shots hit the armored hull of the fighter of her craft, which is far more durable than, say, where the fuel and power is to allow the fighter to be as lethal as it's supposed to be. I did a rewatch, and both A-wings that were destroyed got hit in the engines. Hera's A-wing never got hit there.

Don't worry. I saw the episode. She is gravely injured and near dead when the fleet finds her, but she survives Thank God!

It's so the Fang can hit it's target easier. Makes it that much harder for the target to evade incoming fire. Plus chaing the wing positons changed the thruster layout giving it better turning.

Aleon Flex all of the Star Wars rebels space battles are terrible. No offense to the show being awesome. But space battles........just stick to ground battles Disney. You can't be good at everything.
