Sam they are my favourite microbrand and that gmt is just gorgeous. I'd change the strap but apart from that it's stunning 👍👍

Very nice review. I actually have this version of this watch. It’s really nice, I think the Roman Numerals are not necessary, but that’s subjective. Besides that I basically like what they have done. I found this out a few months ago, Tropic was actually the company that came out with this type of rubber straps in the 1960s. They are technically still around, The Trademark is owned by the same Company that currently owns Isofrane. They started selling Tropic Brand Straps again. Any other company making a strap like this would be “Tropic-style” just like there are several “Isofrane-Style” straps

As a smaller person it would be great if these watch manufactures would include a 38mm version, I can't be the only person out there who likes a reasonable watch size. The watch looks great and has great function but I'm done with watches over 40mm.

I've had the green dial version for about 3 weeks now and I've been extremely impressed by it. I've got it in my mind that it would look phenomenal on "the right" brown vintage leather strap, but I've not found it yet.

I can see that actually, the two places I always go to for straps are either ‘Man Cave Leather’ on Etsy. He makes some excellent handmade leather straps. I have two reviews on the channel. The second would be watchgecko in the UK. They ship to the US for free also. I have never been disappointed by their straps and they do some amazing sales. I’m not an affiliate or for either just my personal opinion.

First time I’ve seen the black or the gilt versions of this. Looks much more classy, than the sun bursts. You make it look like an attractive option. Was considering the Citizen Promaster GMT, so may have to ponder for a while. Like it.

This is the first RU-vid review that actually states the red arrow tipped gmt hand takes 24 hours to do a full rotation. Now I still have to figure out what it’s purpose is.

Hey Jim, its to track a second timezone. the GMT hand is the hour hand (24 hour markings around the outside) and the minute hand is the same. Most GMT watches the second 24 hour us an outer bezel, this is different being and inner.

I have one inexpensive quartz Phobos bought it several years ago from Marc at Long Island Watch. Not a hater or lover of quartz. Will buy quartz if it makes sense. G-Shoch my Bulova lunar lander. And some Citizen Blue Angel and Nighthawk. Have a Seiko Flighty too. Phobos has done a tremendous job on their higher end line. Great Wall etc. Their lum is some of the best I’ve seen. Their pricing is more then fair for what you get. I do know some are put off by the name and logo, but that seems diminishing. Great review and agree on the tropic strap.

Hi Michael, yes i feel like there are a few of this microbrand companies really bubbling up to the surface with quality watches, Boldr being another example and even spinnaker (although they are owned bu a much larger company). I have been also impressed by Vaer and Centric, is makes this segment of the market very interesting.

I like this watch very much. I will probably order the blue dial once Phoibos restocks. In the meantime, is the build quality of this watch better than Seiko, Citizen. or Swiss Military Hanowa? I have never seen a Phoibos in person. Thanks

Hi David, I would say they are good build quality for sure, I think honestly Citizen make the best quartz watches overall but the des of the Phoibos and their attention to detail is worth the money. Citizen and Seiko quartz designs sometimes are very similar across ranges

Did you use it in the pool? I have the red version - it's beautiful. Haven't taken it in the water yet, I'd like to see if it holds up as a diver.

Hi, the watch has a 200 meter water resistance so will be fine in a pool. Most recreational divers go about 30m with a tank.

Nice watch, although is it just me or is the Roman Numeral at 4 O'Clock incorrect? It looks like it reads "IIII" instead of "IV"...

Hey Matt, well that was a really interesting question and I learned something. Apparently after a bit of research that is normal for clock dials to have IIII as opposed to IV. I never knew that or noticed it on the dial so well spotted. www.electrictime.com/news/roman-iiii-vs-iv-on-clock-dials/

I have to admit its very intricate and I would prefer it applied to the dial. I imagine that is hard to do but Orient have a very intricate logo and they have it applied. I like the logo in general when you see it larger like on the warranty card

Hey thanks for watching. I wouldn't call this cheap or low end myself. I would say honestly if your paying more than $400 for a quartz watch (without any extra features) I think your paying to much, Shinola would be an excellent example of this, they are massively overpriced for what they are.. I think this one at $200 is great value for money. A lot of the microbrands are offering a lot of value for money and also its an opportunity to get something that not many people will have.
