This arrived in a plastic sealed sleeved box with the Phomemo logo on the front. Inside the label maker machine is sealed in a plastic bag with four rolls of labels fitted into foam cut-outs. Under the label maker you have the instruction manual along with a USB type A to micro USB charging/power lead.
I put the label machine on charge with the lead supplied and had a good read through the manual. I already have the Print Master application on my phone so am familiar with how it works, and after the machine had fully charged I gave it a try out. You get five rolls of labels with this kit: Three rolls of 12mm x 40mm with two of the rolls being coloured labels and one white, one roll of 14mm x 30mm white and one roll of 15mm x 30mm also white, and one of the rolls is already in the machine but it does need setting up to print.
The print master application is fairly simple to use but you do have to work through the settings and features to find out what everything does although it is very good once you have, and you don’t waste any labels while setting up a label to print.
Fitting the labels is very easy as they just slot in and after powering up the machine a single tap on the power button brings the label into the correct printing position. I had a very small issue but one I thought a bit of an over sight was the dimensions of the labels are on a sticker on the roll, and this sticker is covered when the roll is fitted so you can’t see what you have in without taking them out.
The machine connects to the Bluetooth on the device you are using very quickly and once you hit print it only takes a couple of seconds to have the finished result. I have now tested all the labels supplied and they all printed well with a nice large selection of fonts, icons and borders etc to help with design. I did find you had to ensure the roll was seated well in the machine or it could print slightly off. I was quite impressed with how well the labels stuck and stayed secure even through washing as is the case with my daughter’s water bottle.
Overall a neat little device that produces custom design water resistant labels that secure really well. I had a slight issue with the dimensions being on the wrong side of the label roll but other than that I think this is a useful and nicely designed machine with a fairly good app to support it.
