How I love these two and feel such gratitude to their son for sharing them with us! I have adored Mandy for over 30 years and tried to imagine what his wife would be like! Kathryn is so brilliant and loving and what a great match they are! I love their affection and down to earth banter! These videos made covid so much more bearable....love to all of you
Oh my yes! They are really just lovely people 🥰. I feel incredibly lucky to have them share themselves with us in this way. Rock on the wonderful Patinkin Grody family!👊
If my husband ever hugged me that way during the conversation I think I would have a heart attack from surprise, but I would also die very happy from that heart attack lol!
Dear Mandy, I attended the closing performance of "Sunday in the Park With George" in 1985. That performance remains one of my enduring theatrical memories. It was my second visit to the show; my friend was back for his fifth visit having begun his relationship with the show at Playwright's Horizon's. I remember that during your curtain speech you said "If ever any of you see us on the street, stop and tell us you were here today." A few years later, I was rushing into the Imperial Theater to pick up some tickets and you were in a similar rush leaving. Two New Yorkers in a hurry, we made brief eye contact and moved on. Seconds later I said to myself, "You didn't tell him you were there." I am glad to have a chance to tell you now and also how much that show and your work in it has meant to me through the years. Thank you for that and for all your work since. Please keep singing! And Mazel Tov to you and your wife on the birth of your grandson!
A breath of fresh air to hear honest talk and see genuine interactions between this lovely couple, Mandy and his wife Kathryn. They are candid and super funny! The movie "Yentl" is my absolute favorite and Mandy as "Avigdor" was superb! I watch Yentl on dvd, at least, once a month. I love it that much. It's so nice to see Mandy so affectionate towards his wife.

I love these videos! It is so nice to see a couple touching each other and just loving each other. I am 68 and haven’t had the love that these two feel. It’s so cool to watch. Plus I love the sharing! And…. I would have imagined them living in a huge house but they are happy where they are right now. You guys rock! 🐢
Mandy should read to her while she is in the kitchen if she doesn't have her podcasts. I and my love would read to one another before phones and it is still so romantic.
I live vicariously inside these videos. Please don't ever tell me if they have affairs or divorce. The person I gave my best to for my adult life turned out to be a terrible person. I live vicariously inside these videos. Thank you for posting them.

I have become addicted to your parents. I knew nothing about either of them--except for "The Princess Bride"-- and your videos of them are like meeting a couple and become good friends with them. It seems whenever I need a smile, I notice one of these videos shows up on RU-vid.
So after watching this, arrived in my feed of programming, “Mandy, 1989 Boston Pops”. I’ve listen to this a million times and I listened to it again this morning. And it always lifts my spirits hearing the beauty of your voice Mandy, and your interpretation of songs and music is like no other. Please film yourself singing again. A little song for your viewers who have known and loved your singing and for those who might not realize what an outstanding musical performer and interpreter of songs, you are probably still are. Thank you

Mandy is completely correct about jewish law on masturbation. I switch off all electronics for the sabbath - you can reach me 24/6. There is actually a book called 24/6 - learning to switch off 24 hours once a week
You two citizens are like my' peeps.' I loved your interviews- before the recent Presidential election and then how you were celebrating together-like we were, just almost maniacally thrilled, laughing and crying at the same time-just great. And then...for me, that got over in a matter of a few days! Why can't the orange Cheeto ever just go the hell away? Arrrgghhhh! The argh is compliments of the genius Charles Schultz and his Peanuts gang. My sister and I would buy the books when we were younger. Thrills. What a wonderful talent and real little people-in their own inimitable way. Terri
About the only couple I know that restores my faith in love and that a successful and HAPPY marriage is possible. But I still think the chances of finding a relationship like theirs is smaller than winning the lottery. I love these two wonderful human beings and wish they would live forever! 💜

My sons gaming system has been broken for this past week which has left him with nothing to do. My problem is this, my son has autism and his entire life rotates around those games. So our house for this past week has been filled with screaming and tantrums and all that. What really gets me is the cost…just ridiculous.

I did my Bar Mitzvah in the Conservative tradition, and have therefore formally studied Torah quite a bit, and that issue actually came up at one point or other - the issue of that story was Onan's refusal to give his brother an heir - so, contrary to some popular opinion, that story had zero to do with what people think it had to do with, and was concerned with the tradition in that time and place that if a man died w/o heirs, and he had male relatives, it was the 'duty' of the male relatives to mate w/ the deceased man's female partner(s) in order to provide him with an heir. So Onan incurs disapprobation for not fulfilling this duty, and the story does not have bearing on anything else, and, of course, this is not a tradition that is followed anymore in any case.

The Torah does not ever say that masturbation is a sin. The Torah gives a very specific example of Onan who pulled away and wasted his seed during sex, rather than impregnate Tamar, his deceased brother's wife whom he married after his brother Er died. Onan pulled away and spilled his seed on the ground, because he didn't want to have children with her to keep his brother Er's memory alive. As is written, Onan "knowing that the offspring would not be for his own name, let the semen go to waste whenever he joined with his brother’s former wife, so as not to provide offspring in his brother's memory." (Bereishit/Genesis 38:9) Therefore, it was in the context of a married relationship, a case of withholding a child from one's spouse, that the Torah's example of a wrongful spilling of seed takes place. The Torah never gives an example of a single person living alone, or someone who is not withholding children from his or her spouse. So it does NOT outlaw masturbation at all, except for this one particular scenario. Here it was exceptionally evil, because Onan married Tamar on the basis that he would have children with her, and then tricked her and deprived her of them. It was the later rabbis who discouraged masturbation, because they wanted to encourage people to get married. But it's not a Torah law. Nowhere in the Torah is there any injunction or law against masturbation.

Adorable couple. So the masturbation thing goes back to the biblical tale of Onan (hence the term onanism) whom G-d commanded to take his brother's wife after the man died childless. Onan couldn't cuz...sister in law eeewwww. So he beat off. G-d condemned this spilling of seed. Clearly Onan was not the first to masturbate as it is a natural act among many animals even non mammals. But G-d (or some would say aliens?) wanted to cross two family lines and was angered when His plan was foiled by disobedience. At least that's how I read it.

Ah, yes....The word of God...but transcribed through the heart and hand of man! And wouldn't God reveal his word in a framework that his child would understand? So would the story and lessons be the same for the Sons of David and the Children of the Plains? Or did the Native Americans listen to a different God? One God or many? Whose story do we unite the world with?
