I started in Class 135 but was transferred to an elite fighting force called the "A-Team". We performed missions every Monday evening for 13 weeks on NBC over 6 seasons until a drop in ratings forced the cancelation of the team. From there, I was deployed as a rescue swimmer on a team called, "Bay Watch", keeping America safe from Jellyfish and naughty people.

I served in the Marine Corps and got injured early in my active duty service. But, I'm honored I got to earn the title and served. Bumped into someone that said he was a Marine and never was. That shit pissed me off because we went through the hurt to earn it and for someone else just to claim it and not be it.

Mr. Shipley, I enjoy watching your videos and respect the work you do. I fully understand your pride and chauvinism for serving as a Navy SEAL. I would respectfully ask you not to claim that the SEALs training is the toughest in the world, all the more so because there are several Special Forces operational in the world that are at least as good in terms of training and education. Thanks in advance and stay safe.

Based on my convos w/ex-service people I see inflation of duties up the commando spectrum. Having done airborne and ranger training, but never serving in an active airborne or Ranger unit, I am in no way a spec ops qualified troop. Just from a pure % standpoint the number of Spec Ops service members times 40% (direct action folks vs supporters) / total service members would leave you with a likely less than 1 in 5,000 real front line Tier guys/gals. As I now interview lots of service members for jobs, unfortunately, earning potential for comms, intel and nuke qualified people is 10x more than "commandos" :)

Same here. Graduated jump school in 83 and Ranger class 7-87. I always tell people I am Ranger ‘qualified.’ As a first bat Ranger buddy said to me, “the tab is an award… the Ranger scroll is a way of life.” Regardless, I am proud of graduating first time through- no recycles- unlike about 60 % of my original class.

7.24 the picture in the bottom corner is of one of the Royal Navy sailors who was captured by the Iranians, I know this because the entire time they were captured I have to listen to my uncle Mickey shouting and screaming at the television. He had been on HMS Coventry during the Falklands, so he didn't come back on Coventry. The fact that the Royal Navy officer in charge of the Sea Boat had ordered the Royal Marines not to fire and resist the boarding action which ended in everyone being taken prisoner as a result then the subsequent conduct of the Royal Navy sailors whilst they were captured in his words cast a shadow over the good name of the Royal Navy. At least the bootnecks didn't let the side down. Bit of a random comment lol

Don, I know this guy and he's telling the truth! After he and I went thru BUDS we were secretly reassigned to fly F14s (after two weeks of intensive training, of course). I went on to run the Top Gun school for a few years until I transferred over to the Air Force to fly the lead Thunderbird aircraft. He had a few weeks leave so he got Rescue Diver trained, did few missions with the SEALS, and after realizing they couldn't keep up with him he told the Navy he wanted to go back to being a Boatswains Mate and put in a chit to open a gift shop on the boat (approved by CINCPAC, of course). I remained in the AF until the F35s came on line and I switched to the Marines where I now lead the Special Super Duper Secret Marine Fighter Jet Shooting and Bombing Stuff School based on the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier... and guess who ended up being the skipper of the boat?! Yep, that awesome Rescue Diver/BUD/Aviator/Fry Cook/Rope Tying Specialist that you just made fun of. OOOOOoooooo! You're in trouble now Don! Lawsuit coming' yer way!

Well, slow down. Command Rescue swimmers can be chosen from any rate. Our two, on my Destroyer, were both friends of mine. One was an MS the other actually a BM. The point is, that is not anyone's actual rate. It's not a job anyone does all day. It is collateral duty. So, a guy saying he was a rescue swimmer would be like me calling myself a DCman, because my Battle Station was in a repair locker. So I cannot say whether this guy was a rescue swimmer or not. I can only say it has absolutely nothing to do with any involvement with SEALs. Further, without much need to check myself, I am sure that the damned SEALS do not have any need for "extra" rescue swimmers. I am pretty sure those guys are all well qualified to handle that duty on their own. This cat is just a turd, whether he was a rescue swimmer or not.

When I used to visit in the USA over the winter, I would meet Vets down there who had only a few years the various service, yet they sound off like they saved the free world somehow but it's all hush hush.. A lot of bullshittery... There is nothing wrong to come of service with few medals or rank... or that you had a plain job, not a glory filled career... Be proud that you served. When I meet a Vietnam Vet, I prefer chatting with those who say that they were in the rear with the gear than hear the heroism of some bush rat.. As a retired Navy SEAL, Class 108, Grad 18 July 1980, I strongly agree with your comment. In my early days as a young frogman, I was running my mouth a bit around my retired Navy Yeoman father-in-law, who had enough of my holier than thou chatter about "black-shoe regular Navy" sailors and said "let me tell you about those regular Navy sailors...it was those young 18-19 year old sailors that fought and won WWII!" I was immediately humbled and realized then, finally, at a ripe old age of 20, that he was absolutely right. As SEALs, we are only a part of the larger team and worthless without the mess cook to feed us the Water King and Fuel Kings to keep water flowing and the ship fueled. The Navigators to get us there, etc. Though our job can be rather dangerous and unforgiving at times, we are no more or less important than every other sailor regardless of rating...all are critical to the overall mission. The same is true for all servicemen of the armed forces.

All that combat, all that ass sitting, dodging IED’s, the sweat, the injuries, the bonds, the hard times. After I got out, I rarely even talk about it anymore. Most of the guys I served with, who worked a helluva a lot harder than me, also have simply moved on with their lives. Part of it is the insecurities of the frauds but I also believe the military community as well as even the civilian population are partially to blame. These guys and gals that claim top tier training and units that actually served are doing so for recognition( obviously), recognition that Boone seems particularly interested in giving to a supply guy or a cook or truck driver. The military community is bad about this ( at least in my perspective as an Army soldier) that if you aren’t Delta/SF/Ranger or even combat arms you aren’t shit and I’m sure this attitude carries on in other branches too. Civilians and especially Hollywood are just as narrow minded with the exception that for the most part they pay a little lip service to normal military personnel in the form of “ thank you for your service”.

Awesome job Don!!! You definitely are a legend. I've never served in the military myself. I don't understand why all of these guys lie about such nonsense!! It absolutely makes me sick!!!!! Keep up the awesome work Don. I hope you and your wife have a great weekend.

I was going to join the Navy and be a SEAL, but I almost drowned when the recruiter gave me a bottle of water to drink.... So he introduced me to the Army recruiter and I became a paratrooper.

Don, you are the funniest dude on the internet. As an old Dogface Soldier in the Army I love to see how many fake Seals are out there. Now I understand why VA benefits reps piss me off so much. Always asking Don Shipley questions about my DD 214 data that they happened to misplace. 😂 I guess there is a nut case on every corner claiming SOF top secret squirrel shit. Keep up the good work Sir. You always make me laugh with your interrogations and then I get pissed at the same time listening to these idiots walking around claiming any military background. Please keep the videos coming. It’s better than any standup comedic relief on television.

I absolutely love you man. You are a noble man doing a noble job. My Dad was a Navy Seaman. He was aboard the U.S.S. Bunker Hill when it was hit by two kamikazis and nearly 400 sailors and pilots died. He was proud to have been a Seaman, and never, ever, would have resorted to what these boneheads are doing as they try to claim valor they never earned. Plain and simple. Screw those fakes, and thank God you take them to task for trying.

I’m a Marine Corps veteran. I was in the band and went MSG Bn (Embassy duty) then got out. It’s weird that I hardly ever meet any average military people. Everyone is a damn SEAL or a fucking sniper. Why? What’s wrong with these guys? When I hear their bullshit I just say “of course you were” and roll my eyes. Half of the time they are short and fat guys with stickers all over their car as if that’s the proof. I once met one of these “SEALs” and I said “but you turned into a whale.” He looked dumbfounded.

I have way to much respect for the men that went through SEAL training and served to that extent to ever disparage them by pretending to ever have been one. These are the best of the best in the military and that's saying a lot given the great men and women who serve. If this guy was a rescue swimmer that's a very important job and something to be proud of. That stands alone as very difficult duty. I somehow doubt he was never even a rescue swimmer.

First, I have never served. Much respect to people like Don who have done what most of us can't begin to imagine to get that trident. But I also have total respect for those who tried out to be a SEAL but had to ring that bell - crushingly disappointing but that's the moment you know that know matter how much you have tried you just can't make the grade, and the job demands more than you can give. Those guys may have a sense of shame about their failure but I doubt very many claim to have been SEALs like some people. This dipshit rescue swimmer was less important to the SEAL teams than the many support people doing paperwork, logistics, payroll (yay!, getting paid), armaments and so on. Sure, lots of people work to make the SEALs successful, but this poser is lower than the guys and gals who make sure the SEALs have what they need and get to where they are needed. For someone wjo claims to be a rescue swimmer, this dink is sure enough able to get in over his head in bullshit.

You are probably right, who knows what he actually did. One thing you can tell is, he’s an obnoxious blowhard. Guys like this serve a very important roll on a ship, entertainment. Being stuck on that boat can be boring liars like this are a lot of fun.
