I’ve been a long haul trucker nearly 27 years. During that time I’d also spent six years working in Veterans Affairs Nursing Service. Before that, I spent a time in the Army as a combat medic. I was medically discharged. I never talk about my time in the service unless asked. Reason being, it always turns into some guy with a big mouth running down my service because he served longer and usually had some bullshit story to tell. In short, nobody ever served as a cook or in supply or anything behind the scene. Every trucker was a SEAL, Green Beret, Commando or some sniper. It’s always bullshit.

I'm a vet and I avoid talking about anything I did in the service unless it's with another vet , for the simple reason that It just takes too long to explain what all the acronyms are instead of just talking , and I was a trucker for a little while too incidentally .

I’m a Marine veteran. I was in the band, then embassy duty. You’re correct. I never meet any cooks, supply clerks, mechanics or armorers. Just Snipers and SEALS. There’s more of those that anything else.

Unfortunately, my oldest brother told his wife and kids he was a seal while he was in the Navy. When he passed, they were including it in his obituary. Thankfully I had them put that on hold and we researched his records and 214 to show he was not a seal. He left the Navy in 1980 due to injury but told his wife that he was a sniper in Grenada and had to shoot a little kid that had explosives. I asked her to look at when he left the Navy and then google when Grenada happened. That started to open her eyes especially when I told her I was in Grenada in Dec 83 while I was in the AF . It sucks when your own sibling tries to steal valor!

I too remember my days as a navy seal in Vietnam, I however rejected the standard issue "crossbow" and opted for just a "rambo knife " instead as I would look for a tree over a well worn foot path , so I could wait in ambush , with said knife clenched between my teeth, ready for a quick assault from above on unsuspecting vc who had the unfortunate luck to pass below me in my "kill zone" , after I would expertly take out the first unfortunate victim , it was easy for me to simply walk down the line of the rest of the vc , cutting all their throats as they were frozen in shock and awe . Yes that was long ago and yes my records are classified as uncle Sam didn't want civilians knowing such a efficient killing machine war hero was walking in their midst . I now work as a janitor for Wal-Mart and try to keep these stories on the "low down." Thanks for asking .

I know this is an older video, but thanks for making it. My grandfather was just an army Sargent. My family was so proud of his service that my dad who worked in a factory for 35 years would tell anyone who would listen about him. The truth matters. Grandpa had an 8th grade education, and was older than the other troops. That experience difference was probably why he was a sergeant. And that’s exactly how it was explained to me. Grandpa wasn’t made of anything different than what my pop was made of, or what I’m made of. But there he was, we have photos and detailed records of his service. Why would we bloat it? Why would I pretend to serve myself? Thank you for your service to our country, and for making these videos. You are working hard to preserve the integrity of the service you’ve rendered, and that everyone you served with rendered. But more than that, you’re serving the truth. Fact is- grandpa was a simple sergeant, and only because he was older when he was drafted. The truth is important. It’s our history. Thank you, sir.

I was a Navy Seal. BUDS class 232310. I gradumakated BUDS 2 years ago (2021). I served as a Seal for 22 years. I was a member of Seal team "Black Ops section thirty 2 thirty". Back in 68 we had an op where we camped out on the ho-chi-minh trail for 2 weeks, waiting for ho-chi-minh's to pass by. Now the important part of the story is that we had an onion tied to our belts. Now, we didn't have white onions because of the war. All we had were those big yellow onions. And back then in 68, nickels had pictures of bumble bees on them and we'd say, give me 5 bees for a quarter. But, the important part of the story is that I had an inion tied to my belt. Back then the ferry to Shelbyville cost a nickel, and back then nickels had pictures of lions on them. And that's how I won World War 2 single handedly.

My Dad was Combat Engineers in Korea during the war as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. He told me the story of once rebuilding the carb on a deuce and-a-half, then taking it for a test drive up in the hills. When he got back, there was a bullet hole in the fender that hadn't been there before. He said he never took that route again, as being shot at once was more than enough for him! I had a lot more respect for my Dad's not wanting to be shot at than for all the phony SEAL, sniper, recon and Special Forces dickheads.

My grandfather said his leg was severely wounded during WW2. He said he was on a jeep with 3 other guys somewhere in the south Pacific. He said it hit a landmine and he was the only survivor. He said he lay in a ditch for two days before medics saved him. He died in 1959. My mom got his military records in 2017 and found out he was an electrician in the Navy during WW2 who never left the USA. And he first hurt his leg by falling off the back of a truck and reinjured it later by falling off a ladder!
