I think this is a significant nib for two reasons. One is that it seems to promise the flexibility of a Zebra g nib but in a non-rusting kind of metal. The G nib to me is still incomparable because of the incredibly fine hairline it can give as well as really fat juicy lines when flexed. This particular nib doesn't seem like it will put out a super fine hairline however. Phosphor bronze is often used for springs, and the kind of metal used in a G nib is a kind of tempered steel. (Why the Japanese g nib makers don't put out a version with either really good plating or in stainless steel or bronze, I have never been able to fathom. Even the titanium plated Zebra nibs will corrode if left in a fountain pen. Bluedew makes one such in stainless steel, waiting on an order.) The second thing is the reservoir looks very cool and a design I have not seen that is removable. The company sells these nibs both for use in fountain pens as well as you are doing it here with a dip nib holder. And I actually like using dip nib holders like when trying out different inks or when using multiple colors of ink, but I just wish I could write a lot more text with them or do a lot more drawing with a lot more ink so this would fit the bill both ways. Very intriguing.
Different kind of nib, I prefer the regular angle if a pen and nib, might be ok for writing letters, I would use something different for regular sketching, thanks for bringing this to us,
Wow, I bet drawing with that nib offset and angle was strange! Interesting nib, would you say it was about a Western medium fountain pen nib size? Nice that it's not scratchy. I love map nibs for the fine lines but you have to be pretty careful. Thanks for the review!
I got one a few months back and it is unfortunately sharp on upstrokes, such that it’s unusable. ☹️ Everything else I’ve gotten from Osprey has been great though. 👍
The nib holder you use is meant for Copperplate or other similar coursive calligraphy. To use the flex nib for drawing, you’d rather use regalar straight nib holder. Apart that, the nib seems to be an interesting tool for sketching due to its capability to write upward without catch the paper. I think I’ll try it. thank you for review.
