Tracks like this are a million miles ahead of 99.9% of modern over produced DnB. Big up any headz who were raving at the Metalheadz sessions in the 90's!! Those were the fucking days rudebwoy!
Yea most definitely better than a lot of modern day DnB artists these newer cats always use like a heavy dubstep synth and spam a heavy bass it be too much
This goes beyond being a great single, it is artistry and craftsmanship of the highest order. I agree with handclapsand808 in that dnb takes much inspiration from within, when back in the day the music was born out of a melting pot of genres and producers experimenting with new formulas. For me, this track is a fine example of a dying art, original sampling. So many rely on sample packs with limited originality in drum programming and also rinse preset synth sounds, with limited adaptation. Whilst I agree that some synthesis production in dnb has gone from strength to strength, it is amazing how focusing on the drums, using a devastating sub, cleverly using samples and innovative arrangement without the need for a huge breakdown and massive drop, can be such a great combination. Even now, this tune sounds futuristic, and whilst I am but an amateur producer passionate about underground music, it is tracks like that inspire me to create rather than the majority of stuff put out today across many genres.
The golden period when these kind of tracks were being released. Still some doing it now but hard to find these tunes amongst so much bad music and the ever increasing push for many to go down the commercial route.
Maaaaaaaaaaan this whole sound takes me back to my teenage years. It's like I'm back sifting through record shops finding tunes and artists I knew nothing about. I'd give anything to go back to the mid 90s. Just for a few days.
I remember playing Command & Conquer for hours whilst listening to Metalheadz albums on repeat as a teenager 25 years ago. Just refound a lot of this recently and still buzz off the uniquely quirky mish mash of futuristic beats and cool AF samples
@@MrPhixdIt you seen the digitally remastered updates of C&C 1 and 2 they've released? Tempted to get it so I can go retro style and bang on a bit of metalheadz for nostalgic value!
l1is1the1coolest the intro sounds like the lyn collins think break pitched up with a few other hits i dont recognize. not sure about the break when the tune drops tho
Coming from the age when we use to actually program samples, rip them apart and push the envelope in music producing (No sample packs used!) hehe ..Original creation stuff!/// with soul too!! which has completely gone with alot of music in this genre now, sadly..
