Panasonic invited me to Tokyo for the Lumix Global Summit Tokyo event last Dec. In this video, i'm sharing with you what I saw, and what I did during this trip. All the photos were shot using the Panasonic Lumix S5 Mark II. Videos were shot using the Panasonic Lumix S5 II, Lumix GH6, and Insta360 X3.

There were some mistakes in the original video so I've fixed that now and re-upload the video. What is your favourite photo(s) in this video? Please let me know! And do you recognise some cameo apperances from some other RU-vidrs in this video?

They are all beautiful but my favorites are #65, #112, #137, and #141. I love the colors and shadows in all the images. I also love how you capture movement. Thanks for sharing!

Great video. I especially liked the photos towards the end while you’re doing your own thing.

Thanks a lot! Yes I guess it's because I can control my schedule, where to go much better, and I can stop at any place for say half an hour just waiting for the perfect photo moment. Which is something I couldn't do when travelling with the group.

Ahh..I wondered why I was seeing it again! #22 is beautiful but you took so many amazing shots. Looks like you really enjoyed the trip and the camera!

oh thank you so much dawster 1! oh interesting you mention #22. I like this photo too but thought most people wouldn't really like it. Yes i really enjoyed shooting with the S5II and the trip. Thinking of doing a "S5II photography review" as it seems only Only Gordon Liang has done a review that focus on the photography side, but everyone else (including myself) is heavily focused on the videography side in our reviews.

@@TheRealRichardWong That would be great - I’m really interested in this camera as a photo tool. It might be tempting me away from Fuji, partly because of the 65:24 ratio which you demonstrated so well in that earlier video! It seems a great price for full frame and the L-mount offers a lot I think.

Hello Richard Many thanks for that video, it is quite interesting. The main interesting point for me was to see what type of different photo results you can get from different lenses focal and apertures. My favorite photo is #2. I loved most of the photos you did with the Panasonic 70-200 F4/0IS and the Sigma 100-400 F/5-6.3. --With the Panasonic 70-200 F4/0IS I love the compression and the look you geton pictures such as #50,#65,#66, #83, #94, #95, #136, #138. I Would had been interested also to see some pictures with its bigger brother, the Panasonic 70-200 F2.8. -- With the Sigma 100-400 F/5-6.3, there is always some Sigma magic on the colors, the brightness and the contrast. -- The Panasonic 20-60 is a good all around lenses but I must confess that I feel that my iPhone 14 would allow similar results except on low light where the S5II is a killer (I am just an amateur, please don't kill me if it sounds stupid). That been said, I loved #68, #70, #71, #72, #89, #121, #132, #140 ... Personally, I believe I would prefer to put on my bag the super light Sigma 28-70 f2.8 which is almost as small an has more magical image thanks to its greater aperture, That been said, I would only regret the wider 20mm angle time to time. Nevertheless, not a heavy lens good to always have. I was slightly disappointed by the pictures you did with the Lumix 1.8 line. I feel that it is not as much the lens quality rather than the subjects you choose. I like the #11 or #13 which which are in line with what I would expect from those lenses, nevertheless I would have loved to see some portraits with the 85mm 1.8. Is that yo the due to the lack of versatility of those fixed focal lenses? I am just an amateur so apologies if some comments may sound completely stupid .... (like like what I said about getting from the iPhone 14 similar results that you can get from the Pana 20-60, this is probably because I only look the pictures on my iPhone or my computer and rarely print). One of the take-away from your video is to try to shoot more often with my 70-200 f2.8. It is quite heavy and most of the time I am lazy to take it but your video has motivated me to increase my efforts to use that lens.... Again, many thanks Richard, looking forward to continue learning from you. ps: I own the S5II and the GH6 (300 fps slow motion and when travelling light ...)

hi Henri, thanks for watching and writing such a long detailed comment. it seems quite a few people like the #2 the most, i like it too. and yes it seems like you do like the telephoto photos the most. The main difference (in terms of picture quality) between a phone photo and large sensor mirrorless camera like the S5II is mainly how the full frame sensor can handle high dynamic range better, has better low light performance, can create real shallow depth of field photo and the quality of the "pixel", and how much you can push the RAW files during postprocessing. so if you are just viewing the JPG online, esp on youtube, even 4k the difference may not be that noticeable, especially when the lighting condition is not too challenging. so yes i can understand why you may feel that. But i think the Lumix S f/1.8 lenses are great. Could it be because i didn't really go for those shallow depth of field look photos during this trip so you were a bit disappointed? I shot a lot of portrait/weddings using the Lumix S f/1.8 lenses I honestly think the quality of the Lumix f/1.8 lenses are great, esp the 85 and 50. Thanks for watching again! Always happy to chat and discuss photos and camera gears!

very cool. Did panasonic pay for the flights?
@TheRealRichardWong
@TheRealRichardWong Год назад
Yes they did. Usually when a camera company invite you to an event, they would pay for everything. And this time Panasonic invited me to their S5II launch event in Tokyo so they also paid for the flights/hotel/event. I stayed a few extra days so I paid for those expenses myself.

Going next week. Are people still masking up everywhere there?
@TheRealRichardWong
@TheRealRichardWong Год назад
yes pretty much. Mask was very common in Japan even before COVID. And now, even though it is not legally required. most indoor places would still ask you to wear mask before you are allowed in.

Or me would be #2#3#27 I really enjoy most of it I would say, would you give me a recommendation on which zoom lenses to use with the Lumix s5ii please it would be an honor!!! Thank houuu👏🏼
@TheRealRichardWong
@TheRealRichardWong Год назад
thank you so much Lavender Bem! #2 is quite popular! I love #27.a lot too! But you are the first one mentioned #3! 😁. For zoom lenses, what sort of focal length do you want? the Lumix S 20-60 is my top pick if i can only have one zoom lens.. then I would add Lumix S 70-300 as I love telephoto. However if you love ultra wide angle, then you should consider Lumix S 14-28. I have done review of all these three lenses on my channel
