Honestly, Mads, I love this more than most of your work from the "epic" locations you visit. But I love photos that take me to places not conveyed by hundreds or thousands of other photographers, over and over and over. I like seeing the mundane places of the world just as much as the popular ones, and especially through the eyes of a fantastic photographer.
That's exactly what I think. The epic ones are great, no question about. But videos, photos, locations like the today's video are much more attractive and interesting to me. Thanks a lot!
I liked the majority of these photos, especially the last one. As a geologist I can appreciate it more than most, geomorphologically as well as paleontologically.
I hate to disagree with you Mads, but for me these are truly spectacular!. The combination of the sky, the cliffs, the waves and mostly the church, combine to tell a story that is greater than the sum of it's parts.Well done, and thank you.
Definitely a thumbs up from me Mads. Although as you said, you have witnessed some heavier sea swells and larger cliffs elsewhere, the fact this is a very rare event in Denmark adds that perspective of uniqueness to what you captured this day. Im sure there will be many images of Iceland, Faroes and other destinations known for their epic storm images but how many photographers will have in their collection what you captured from this particular location, so that to me is where the sense of achievement comes into it. Given the fact this could have happened at a time when you could have been elsewhere on your travels this also adds to that feeling of accomplishment.
Oh my gosh I love this video ! The power of nature whipping the ocean, the amazing old cliffs and the wild skies all comes together in an epic photo shoot. Stunning and awe inspiring. 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
I definitely like that last storm surge Unesco site image. After listening to you saying what it is we are looking at, it most definitely makes it more special. Awesome photography and it's pleasing you err on the side of caution when out and about, keeping yourself safe. Fantastic video. Thank you!
Another excellent exercise in perseverance and „making something out of what you have“

Ok, I love the recent videos you made with the ambient sound replacing music. And your storm photos are stunning! I'm curious now to see an image from that clif by a calm sunny weather, just for sake of compareason.
Your videos from Denmark are far and away my favourites, and this is a fantastic one. It's so interesting to see you come up with pictures that are different to what everyone else is shooting. 👌
Thanks for taking us along to this wonderful site. No need to apologize for the size of the waves, they were quite something. And you came away with some wonderful photos.
Wonderful moody shots, I really don't need all the context like Unesco and dinosaurs to appreciate these beautiful stormy shots from the (only) Danish cliffs. The little church tells me already it is an old place and I love how the patterns and colours of the church are repeated in the cliffs, showing both share a long history. Hope you got out safe (and dry) from this heavy storm!
Mads that is an interesting set of moody photographs showing the development of the storm and the power of the wind.Hope you weren’t too cold at the end of this video!
Thank you Mads, personally I prefer the last photo with the tall wave 🙂Hold on to you hat, tripod and photographer! Those winds looked wild!! You are brave standing on those cliff tops!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video Mads! As noted, the cliffs at other locations may be more iconic / dramatic but as filmed I like these better! The twists and folds in these cliffs are very dramatic and I'd like to see more emphasis given to them. It seems like every pro photographer is shooting a video of big cliffs and large waves from .....(take your pick because we've seen them all) but this is the first I've seen from here. At this point, I think I'd rather visit this place than many others. Thanks!
Loved the last photo. Hearing the history of the cliffs combined with your excitement, made it seem like an adventure with a photographic bonus. As I write, situated on the south coast of the UK, we've just had storm Ciaran pass through but the torrential rain with it would have ruined photographic opportunities. Standing up was challenging :-)
There is so much character in those cliffs and the church just adds to the "epic-ness" and the crashing waves just bring it all home. I must say there is no seascape as epic as that in my little state of New Hampshire! I have friends in Denmark and I hope to visit some day!!
Maybe not as epic as Iceland, but the photos captured the stormy weather. I think I preferred the first photo compared with the texture in the clouds. Looks like we also have stormy weather coming to the south of England on 2nd November.
Excellent video and photographs Mads. I live on an island in the North Atlantic where we frequenlty get exposed to hurricane force winds and tremendous sea surge, so I can appreciate the conditions you endred creating this session. Watching and photographing such majestic wave action can be hypnotic . There's no trouble filling a card in attempts to capture that "biggest most outstanding wave". Incuding the actual wind and thundering waves sounds added so much. Thank you for another super video.
So glad you filled us in on the geological background of this amazing place! Knowing that adds an extra layer of interest to your amazing photos, especially the last one. I like the church ruins but a lighthouse would have been perfect IMHO. But, like you pointed out, this kind of weather is rare for this part of your home country, so there's a church and not a lighthouse. Great job catching the tripod in the wind also!
What a fantastic experience for you! It is a real shame that the big waves were breaking against the cliff behind that branch coming out. I love it. I'm sure you looked, but I'm interested in the view from the other side of the chapel as well.
Same here, Mads, at the northern German Baltic shoreline. Not a single km that was not touched by the storm and rising water. Damaged dykes and infrastructure everywhere. It will take millions and millions of Euros to restore and upgrade everything
I've been to Stevns Klint this year and also to the even higher Møns Klint. I really can appreciate these marvellous photos! These cliffs are far higher in reality as they seem in the pictures. The impressions on location must have been quite imposing.
I love the look of those cliffs, the way the different layers undulate. You must have been getting a bit wet from the sea spray there. That's been my experience photographing waves from a cliff on Norfolk Island while it was windy.
The story of place with Denmark was really important. It might not match other places in the world - but honestly this was an epic moment well worth capturing.
Hey Mats, I visited Denmark last week for the first time. With the kind of weather we had, not much photography was possible, but I did get a couple of half decent shots. Thanks in part to your map with photography locations, although you did leave out the Rømø dam.
As allways, interesting and instructive video. Thx. I had the opportunity to visit the cliffs and church some years ago and it is a fantastic place indeed.
Great for you being out in those conditions! Great editing to include outside footage to demonstrate the storm. You got a once in a hundred years shot!
Nice photos and video. I liked the soundtrack of the wind. Your comment about context brings to mind the benefit of combining words and images. Perhaps you could add a ‘slide’ with text. Anyway a very enjoyable video. Thanks.
Really cool, being from S Fl we get enough Hurricanes so I can appreciate the strong winds. I personally like the wave action pounding the walls and splashing in the air.
Excellent video Mads, the scenery was stunning but for me I love the church, it is a shame you didn't tell us your camera settings. We're off to Mid Wales in December, hoping to see some storms and grab some photos
I really enjoy your videos, and especially your always good mood that shows how much you love what you are doing. The Vistas always gives a wauw feeling, but the story an more ordinary shot gives a bit more depth. I know it was a century storm, but only by coming from East, I live on the west coast and here we get the real big hurricanes, seen from Danish point of view of course 😉 But as the landscape here are more "used to this" it is also hard to show the big impact it has in a picture. But great work, I am always looking forward to your videos!
Nice I love the photo the contrast of colors, the water spray, it works. The weather is certainly changing I live in Southern California normally we just deal with heat and high winds at times but a few months ago a tropic storm came through and that was an experience. I'm not new to storms when I was in the military I was assigned to Iceland and after that the eastern side of England so I lived through a few. LOL the tripod blowing over, that happens here the winds can gust up to 100kph and over , I sometimes have find rocks and put on the tripod feet.
Amazing photos! That one with the big wave was incredible! haha I liked a lot. I'm a landscape photography student from the southeast of Brazil. I live in a seaside town and we have some cliffs here where I usually go to take photos. And this video reminded me of the last time I went there. My dream is to travel around the world, mainly North America, Europe and Artic Circle to take photos. But, I'm very happy to be starting here and to be learning from you. Your videos help me a lot! I really appreciate your work. Thanks for sharing.
What a really neat site to photograph Mads! The history really makes the scene compelling ... I like how you did not oversaturate the scene in your final edits . Would love to see a long lens shot of those layers in the cliff would make a cool abstract ... Till next time .. Best ...
Mads, these photos are great! I like both of them. Perhaps the waves aren't as huge as waves you have recorded in other places; but, so what, the scene in these photos are very nice. I wonder what the scene would look like if there was sunlight in it. Anyway Mads, beautiful job.
Since I saw the reel that day, I think, you're a bit crazy😂...travelling around the world to get the best shoots and risk to get lost in the wildest storm right in front of your door😂...by the way, great work, so as always🤘
Your description of Denmark's eastern shores and their potential for damage is much like the Gulf coast of Louisiana (USA). There's absolutely nothing to stop hurricane winds and water from sweeping north and destroying everything in their path. Very impressive!
