No drones allowed in wilderness areas, which a glance at the BLM web site would have shown. Sad!!

From the Netherlands, I've visited the us desert southwest quite a few times, and discovering the Bisti Wilderness was one of the highlights for me. Been there several times thru the years and the landscape there never ceases to amaze me. One of my all time favorite places to photograph there!

On my bucket list as well. Perhaps in 2025 a combined re-visit of Chaco Canyon and De-Na-Zin.

Long time follower of your videos, I’m heading there from Sedona where we live in about 10 days to shoot. Was the first area in the video the Ah-Shi-She-Pah Wilderness Area east of Bisti? Trying to focus on two areas over 3 days and 2 nights to not get too overwhelmed with all the potential photo ops there, plus doing some Astro work as well. Thanks for any additional insight you can provide other than the mud is slippery! Lol

Since when are drones allowed in designated wilderness areas? Please explain

Very inspiring. I really appreciate this hands on approach to photography/videography. Dealing with terrain, temperature, light and time constraints. Literally getting your hands dirty out in the field. The final photo of the evening blue sky was a stand out for me.

I like the portrait version at 7:00. In particular the high key processing gives the image a sense of airy heat and dryness that works for the desert scene.

i like that first one but i think the issue is depth if you could of whacked a telephoto on and gone back that compression would of been perfect for those broder mounds. and really looked nice. STill both lovely shots amazing spot !

Great video! Thanks so much! I used to pronounce Bisti as you do in this video. Then I visited friends that live in Farmington and learned that the second i is a long i: Bis-tie, not Bis-tee.

Your friend is wrong. It’s bis-tee. Source I’m Navajo and live there.

@@techguyml - Thank you. I've read that Bis-tie is the "common" pronunciation, but that certainly doesn't mean it's the authentic one. I don't doubt you.

thank you... I really like your composition thoughts in creating images in this strange but wonderful location. I plan on doing some astrophotography there next month. BTW, Bisti Badlands is in perfect position for the annular eclipse October 14, 2023.

That shot with the sidelight is just magnificent. I will be making it out there soon. Thanks for another great video. Is there any chance you will be doing any more CaptureOne videos? Or have you given up on CaptureOne?

Very unique place, I will def add to my list. Thanks for sharing. Also prefer the second photo w/o the walls on the sides. Feels less busy.

6:37 I like the first shot, that rocks on the sides add depth to the image and it makes the mountain highlighted.

I'm hoping to visit and photograph this area in the next month or so, so your video is very timely. I really enjoyed it! Of the two images you asked us about, I prefer the portrait version. However, the last shot was the standout. Would a person need a GPS unit if hiking here? Are both wilderness areas worth visiting? Is one better than the other? Is the light better in the morning or evening? Thanks for making your videos and sharing them with us!

Definitely need a GPS. Or a compass. There are no marked trails, its just open desert.

I have a family reunion event going on in Salt Lake City first week of October. I have bin planning the trip a few months now and after the event had worked in a trip south to Grand Canyon and Sedona. After seeing this I am adding this location to my trip. 🙂

Visited there in 2003. Wonderful place. Witnessed two couples walking out into the wilderness to howl at the rising of a full moon. Interesting!
