Photographing Hillary Clinton Was Awful. 

So sad to hear you didn't get to photograph Spike I'm a huge fan. I think this story is really illustrates, politics/policy aside, why Clinton lost. People could tell she was self important, out of touch and hubristic/egotistic. Glad you stood your ground.

lol i love how you call a spade a spade , its an honest report on how i think we would all feel , waiting , hoping , discarded because "who are you?" attitude . most interesting videos .

Your story not only illustrates her entitlement but also her naïveté in underestimating the power you have as a photographer. Images have the power to shape public perception and I think that image of hers seems like a very honest photograph that aligns with your story of her behaviour.

Your dedication to making excellent portraits is of huge benefit to the people you photograph, if only they realise it.

Such a good story behind the photograph. Had a similar experience with a politician many years ago. Waited around for hours to photograph him and when I finally managed to get past all of his flunkies, he stopped me in my tracks, hand outstretched to the camera and said he needed more time to digest the images he was looking at in the huge gallery space where I planned to get the photo. Ironically. Man was a angry inside, but I did get a good shot in the end.

Excellent, honest appraisal of a difficult shoot. The picture still works well, even though it was so time limited, because you had all the fundamentals in place ready to go. It is so important for photographers to understand a situation - to read the room - and anticipate the hazards. And to be persistent. I also like that the carpet tiles match her coat.

Great advice, and insight. As always your people-management insights are as important as the photography ones.
