I never would have imagined simply bracing a curled-up sheet of paper would produce such amazing photo results. They turned out beautifully. Thanks for saving me money I would have spent on a lightbox. ♥

It wont be perfect but you can do the same kind of setup with paper (or White cloth) and use indirekt sunlight as well. Ie put it pretty close to a window. It probably gets some colour a bit off, but its like 90% there and you dont need a lamp with a special bulb

I was having trouble with getting a proper reproduction of the colours I was seeing on the mini in my photographs. I got way into my head and tried all kinds of crazy things over the last year. Then this video popped into my feed. You brought me back to basics and reminded me that often, simple is best. This setup is great. Thank you.

Some very good tips on miniature placement. Good to know farther from the background is better. 👍 I'll also need to pick up a daylight LED bulb as well. Thankfully it's a tiny investment.

That is an extremely useful video, wish I had seen it before I went through different light boxes first. I actually use the same method of taking pics now but the tip about moving source of light and placing the miniature to the front will come in handy for sure

I bought a lightbox once and was rather disappointed... I used a sheet of paper with an organic pattenr printed on it (like smoke or clouds) and that was totally fine. The quality of the phone obviously matters here... back in 2013 when I was using my smartphone (Samsung S3 here) it was rather difficult to take pictures without flash which were not shaky. So in the end it might make sense to buy a tripod to mount your smartphone.

I had an offcut of bright white LED strip floating about. I stuck some empty sprues together in a loose \_/ shape, weaved the LED strip through it, so it stayed in place and cut a hole into the sprue to point a camera through and it's worked really well. No need to spend money on a light box.

That's a great video Emil. Been faffing about with Photo equipment for ages to try and get a 'good look'. Simplicity is more! And saves on set up time 😉. Now, one thing I will ask, if I may? More than one miniature? I have just finished a Ogre Blood Bowl team and, as you know, being close to the camera has depth of field problems. Just bump up the F stop? Thanks for all of your 'squidly bits' tips. Keep 'em coming 👌👍

what about defusing the light with a piece of paper in front of it have found great results doing such. along with using paper plates out side of the frame a reflector but that is mostly because i like to shoot with a black back ground so need more light onto the subject.

QUESTION : 1. Do you ever use the CCT functions? Or leave it one one function? 2. When taking photo's, what setting do you choose? What my eyes see may be different when absorbing colors. I have a syndrome where my eyes collect alot of light.
@bnk111

As a photographer I must....agree! Effect from one light is good enough. One more thing, focal length is pretty important, it’s best to avoid shooting with lenses between 17 and 50mm
@ThibChap
@ThibChap 2 года назад
Why would you avoid them and what would you use instead?
@bnk111
@bnk111 2 года назад
@@ThibChap this causes the image to bend and deform the subject you shoot at these focal lengths. It’s best to use lenses between 85-105mm
