Nasa confirmed last month that the Advanced Composite Solar Sail System Satellite had finally opened its 30x30 Solar Sail. Follow along as I attempt to find and photograph the ACS3 satellite for the first time from the desert in SW Idaho.

Nice, I've caught the space station at 600mm which is just enough to show some detail. I'll have to look into this thing. You did a great job, keep it up!!

@@wooddogg8 thanks for watching! I want to try to capture the ACS3 transiting the Moon or Sun. Maybe in a future video 👍

I’m going to try and photograph ACS3 here tonight (10/12/24), long exposure with a streaking result. I’ll be using my A7iii with either the 20mm f1.8 or the 35mm f1.4, haven’t decided which lens I want to try it with.

@@ww8wv1 can’t wait to see what you get tonight! I would start with the wider lens to make sure you get it in frame.

Nice video. But I dont actualy think the sail will work. Light carries energy, but no mass. So there is no force to push the sail. But I hope I am wrong. We will see.

@@jonnyueland7790 I think they already confirmed that it was working. Ei5er way it’s still a great object to try and photograph 👍
