Tom Marsh, the Flat Capped Photographer walks, films and photographs The Dales Way, an 82 mile walk between Ilkley in West Yorkshire and Bowness on Windermere in Cumbria.
Along the way he imparts some useful photography advice and shares his photographs from his journey.
In the second part of this two part adventure he walks between ribblehead and Bowness, completing this epic walking route.

Thanks Tom, a wonderful video and what a advert for the Dales Way, your style reminds me of Geoffrey Smith the Gardner who did a number of walks for television back in the 70s/80s, sadly none films of the walks appear to have survived but there are lots of his gardening ones on RU-vid.

I always smile whenever a video includes mention of Sedbergh. Of course most of us know that the pronunciation is "Sedba", but the locals, (at least the older of them that have lived there for the longest,) actually pronounce it "Sebba". This must confuse foreign visitors like hell!

A thoroughly enjoyable journey through both of your videos. I can't help but feel a little disappointed though: You finished each day with a pint at your daily destination, but on your arrival in Bowness-on-Windermere, you didn't celebrate with a well-earned beer at the unofficial (though traditional) end of the Dales Way: The Royal Oak on Brantfell Road/Kendal Road.

Hi Tom. I watched Part 1 and Part 2 and enjoyed it! We have walked many trails in the UK, most recently the Cotswold Way and Cumbria Way. May I ask how you set up the videos of you walking? Smart phone, tripod - what kind? Thanks! Chuck

Hi Chuck, many thanks for your comment. I used my Nikon Z6 on a tripod to film the walk. The tripod I used was made by Key Concept. I like them for their sturdiness and portability, not too heavy for long distances on foot.

What saddens me is that we now seem to almost universally judge our counties by the 1974 Admin boundary shake up, which never changed the historical boundaries at all. MPs at the time even said that. Dent, Sedbergh and much of the 'Cumbrian Dales' are still in Yorkshire. The Dales park expansion of 2016 basically got back what's been taken, though all our counties have been messed with, all have lost out or gained. None of it makes muchh sense. 😢
