Thanks Nancy. I think this trail is a great representation of Oregon to outsiders especially. From the outside everyone pictures Oregon as a wet forest with rivers and waterfalls. 2/3 of the state is desert but this is what we are known for.
Thank you Connie. I really appreciate you checking out a bunch of the older videos. They get forgotten pretty easily and that is too bad because a lot of work went into them.
There is still a homestead from my ancestors up there. It's supposed to be maintained by the family, but I haven't been there for about a decade so YMMV.
I live in Bandon and not sure will be able to do this and other hikes you bring into our homes. My 100 yr old mother enjoys them so much too. Can’t thank you enough young man and you are well on your way to a promising photography career! This should be on PBS 😃
Thank you very much. I have a 100 year old watching? That is so cool. If someone with that much experience gets something out of these videos, I am doing something right. Hi mama Sunley!
I've been around that falls in grade school. The same school my dad went to the first yr it opened. And the same school passed on the way up to the park.
Excellent video showing the falls at this wonderful state park. I first did this tour in 1972 - so been going to this park now for a half century. I live in Salem and try to return often. It never disappoints. Thank you fir your work on this.
@@MattCookOregon The trail has been measurably improved as have guard rails. But, OPRD has done a pretty good job of managing the higher volume of traffic.
Thanks. Cool to hear that someone experienced with the area approves. Wish I had time to stop by the other things but that trail really takes up the day.
Thank you! All seasons are nice in some way. Spring has the biggest flows. But Fall is nice for the colors. I bet theres some good fall colors still this week.
The little birds you filmed at the last fall at the bottom of the falls, is the American Dipper or Water Ouzel. We watched an Oregon Field Guide years ago all about that incredible little bird. They build nests in alcoves under the water falls in streams.
Nice video! Your shot at 8:33 was really nice! The waterfalls are flowing right now it looks like! Great to see all of the water and what a beautiful area!
Thank you for your stamina and eye for beauty. It's a shame your hiking buddy wasn't able to tag along. I wonder why so many others felt entitled to bring their furry family members?
I never heard about the cars and daredevil stories before. People are crazy. “Look at this beautiful site, let’s destroy it by throwing cars and boats over it”.
Great video, Matt. I’ve never done the full loop due to its length so it’s nice to see what all the falls look like. I also love your use of maps to tell the story. It’s extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Vega. Of course I tried a few different map options. I tried a mini corner map through the whole video, but it was too small to provide much value.
