I have bought the Wimberley flash bracket after seeing this review and find it of excellent quality but very expensive. As I use my flash wirelessly I also purchased the Wimberley flash shoe clamp for holding the flash and that is very good as well, gripping the flash tightly with no slippage. If you are prepared to spend the money you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.
Great vid! I see that Custom Brackets has a ton of models, but I don't see any particular one mentioned here or on your website-- which specific one do you recommend? Thanks again for sharing tips so generously- your articles are really helpful.
Hi Glenn. Great video as usual. Just thought I'd share some info. you may find interesting....I have a Canon 400/2.8 lens and just started using the "Acratech Long Lens Head"...it cost a lot less than my gimbal head and is not only really small, but weighs less than 1 lb. Considering it is so light and small compared to the gimbal head and works just as well, it seems really superior. It also works as a great regular tripod head, so I don't need to carry another head for all the other stuff
I had bought a couple of cheapish ones but they were absolute rubbish, They were not very robust and couldn’t tighten locking knobs etc so the flash would be at all different angles. A couple of years ago I decided to take the plunge and go for the Wimberley, and I have not been disappointed. Everything locks tight and rigid with no slipping it’s a bit expensive but extremely good quality. Unfortunately you have to pay dear for quality.
