I tried to learn this stuff a decade ago, it was part of my higher education course. Growing up in poverty, I had only just purchased my first laptop which was basically a fancy way to browse google, as I had absolutely no computer experience and had only just gotten the internet. My teachers and classmates were so condescending and did not even try to help me get to a point where I could learn anything. So I dropped out and haven't touched PS since, and have always felt a tug of shame about the whole thing. This video has been incredibly helpful and you are just so friendly! It honestly means the world, I can finally feel confident enough to begin my design journey. Thankyou so much!

Same, I'm just bored with what I'm currently doing, so on my road towards becoming a doctor, I figured that I teach myself something. I watched the InDesign course done by this gent and he made it so fun to watch. I complete NOTHING (usually, because nothing catches my interest besides medicine long enough), but the InDesign course was actually something that I completed. On to Photoshop (this vid) next. Hopefully this will be just as good as his InDesign course.

For those having a problem with cropping and auto-fill try using the Marquee tool (second tool on the menu) then hold and drag over the area that needs to auto-fill (then hold shift to add another area to be auto-filled after selecting the first one) then press backspace and let it do its thing. Anyway, really helpful tutorial. Thanks so much

This was a multi-day training course for me as I took notes on every single topic since I'm a true newbie. I'm feel so much more comfortable using PS thanks to this course. Thanks Dan for making and sharing this amazingly informative video!! Just a quick note related to Transform..When transforming a layer, it's no more needed to hold down the Shift key while dragging a corner handle to resize a selected layer to constrain its proportions. Anytime you drag a corner handle during transform and move it, the layer resizes proportionally. Holding down the Shift key now resizes non-proportionally when you drag a corner handle during transform.

I think I may have found my new Adobe teacher. Love the teaching style, the personality and the lessons themselves. Really feels like I'm coming away with a genuine understanding of the tasks after each lesson. Plus, I already have a sense of how I can take what I'm learning here and use it out in the field.

I don't think I've ever seen such a great tutorial as this one! Wow, thank you! I'm new to Photoshop (have been using CorelDraw all along), and this tutorial gave me a great head start to the application! Everything is explained in a simple and understandable way, which makes for easy learning!

I'm in highschool and just joined yearbook, and I do have previous knowledge of photoshop because of a tech-ed class in my 8th grade but this reminded me a lot of things I already learned and gave me some new knowledge too! I've gotten 2 hours into it and I'm so happy! Can't wait to watch the rest!!

Dan Scott, sir.. you're the man! I followed your tutorials for Adobe illustrator six weeks ago and now I'm so good with shortcuts, logo designs and character designs which was my main reason I wanted to learn. Though, I couldn't make the kind of backgrounds I wanted for my characters due to the limitations of the brushes on Illustrator. I read that Photoshop would be better and immediately, you came to mind. I had no doubt you'd have a tutorial for Photoshop. I'll begin tomorrow and I'm absolutely excited about it. Hi Dan! Thanks for a great course. Tip: around 1:04 you were wondering how to get the text to the other side of the circle. You can just duplicate the layer and choose ''Flip vertical'' in the transform path.

You will not find a better introductory course on Photoshop, period. The fact that it's free is darn near impossible to believe. Of course you won't learn everything there is to learn about this deep program, but it hits everything you need to know. Daniel is a gifted teacher and this course is a gift.

There are so many tutorials out there. For mr, it was your beginner illustrator video that saved me from giving up learning illustrator 3 years ago. Now, I find myself in a project using photos but I’m limited in Illustrator. So it is time to learn Photoshop. I am determined to learn but it is slow and I’m always feeling like a beginner. After 1 day with this beginner photoshop, my comfort has improved so much that I do not feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s the silliest little thing, like cropping out to gain space. Or even sillier feeling like using the ‘deselect’ button! I have a way to go to get the product I want, but I won’t be pulling out my hair trying. Thank you so much!

Once again, another great video Dan. Loads of basic sections covered off. Very well explained with good examples. Lots that I won't need, but at least I know they are there. Great foundation course. I watched the 3 hour video over a couple of days, especially when you need to play it back, to re-watch something. The video is now 2 years old, so some of the settings in the video, aren't quite the same as my 2022 Adobe Suite - but a quick Google or the Adobe Help sorted those situations. Now I think it's Adobe Spark

Edit: Just to point out, personally its way easier for me to use Alt(or Fn, depending on your keyboard)+Scroll Up/Down for zoom in/out. For anyone using photoshop 2021 when scaling an image you no longer need to hold shift, the image scales equally by default. It's actually the opposite now, if your holding shift the image will warp to whatever size you want (new to photoshop so I apologize if Im using incorrect terminology). Thanks for the amazing content Dan! Keep it up :)

Amazing course! Dan, you're the best. And folks, just an update: proportional scaling is now default in Photoshop and holding "shift" behaves in precisely the opposite manner.
