This is one of the best PS tuts ever. It's not so much the subject matter but the clear, concise delivery, positive tone to the voice, and NO mindless attempts at "humor". When I do ctl - alt- G to place type into the face, some of the type is left outside of the face, it flows over. What am I doing wrong. Also my photo doesn't pop clear, even when posterized, perhaps the image is not strong enough. Thank you Marty, you are very easy to follow.

Make sure the background layer is active. Press Shift + F5 to open the "Fill" window. Open the fly-out list under Contents and click "Color". Pick a color you like and close both windows.

Any ideas on how to do this without cutting off any word endings or beginnings, or splitting a word down the middle? I'd love to use the names of the students in a school club to make something cool like this, without cutting anyone's name out.

Most likely. It's been awhile since I worked on CS2. Keep in mind, the tool bars, icons and many features of CC aren't available in CS2 or will look different.

This tutorial does not work for African Americans! Show us a tutorial with some one black I have tried all your word wrapping photoshop tutorials and none of them work with any African American I try.

Thanks for your suggestion. Sorry for the frustration. You can brighten dark tones a number of ways: Image > Shadow/Highlights, the Curves adjustment layer, Levels, the Dodge Tool...to name a few.

A warning to others: make sure your photo is brightly lit. Darker photos don't really work.

It's always advisable to adjust your original image's Levels before proceeding with any tutorial.
