Probably one of the best courses about PHP. I wouldn't call it beginner friendly, but makes it very easy to move to Laravel after you grasped all the concepts displayed on the video.

That's true, that's why as a beginner I am taking notes and practicing at the same time with lots of googling and learning from other resources. I'm halfway through and hopefully will make it to the end.

I agree, when I read PHP for beginners this was not what I was expecting. Some of the things after the midway point are quite abstract and honestly a little difficult to follow. But hey, it''s part of the learning process I guess. In a few months this might seem self explanatory (hopefully ^_^ )

This course is a huge service to the whole PHP ecosystem! And for Free! I wish such courses existed when i was starting to program. I have been out of the PHP loop for ~10 years, and even though i was at a very high level, i am completely hooked and feel that i should continue watching the whole series (at 2 hours, 30 minutes now). the part about lambda and arrow functions was great, and i really enjoy, that you structure the course very sensibly so that a transfer to laravel is soo smooth. You have a great way to explain complex topics with simple words. That´s the Way 😉

As a student in PHL, I'm pleased that when I chose to begin learning PHP, this channel was recommended to me through RU-vid search. Completing the series took me three weeks, but I gained a wealth of knowledge from it. I'm now eager to delve into learning Laravel. All I can do now is to subscribe to the channel and recommend it to my friends. Many thanks to Professor Jeffrey Way. Warm regards,

Great service to the PHP world Jeff!!!. I keep asking myself, where have I been since the original release of this Gem. The dude was really teaching his students the framework path to learning PHP. This means you'll never have an issue picking up frameworks like Laravel, Symfony, etc. And if you ever choose to become a no-framework guy, your code-base would be a framework in itself.

This lesson is by far the BEST lesson I have taken as a "self taught" PHP enthusiast! Jeff takes you "along for the ride" you simply have to be willing to be a passenger and to not give up. Be willing to do research on your own when you hit a wall or come to an impasse where things aren't working (It will happen), after all NO ONE can memorize all the rules of any programming language and the subtle issues when dealing with servers and different IDE's and operating systems, it can get tough when you hit a wall, just don't give up! Jeffrey explains things in a easy to understand way that, at least for me, just makes sense. If you are remotely considering learning PHP, do not hesitate to at least listen to this lecture, it is POWERFUL PROGRAMMING LOGIC that can be moved into very popular frame works. Thank you Laracast for making this lesson available for free and thank you Jeffrey!

Jeffrey Way is an absolute rock star when it comes to teaching. His ability to explain even the most mind-bending concepts in such a chill, way is out of this world. He has a true gift for making complex stuff click without any confusion whatsoever. I've been really struggling to wrap my head around Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), and I can't help but wonder if Jeffrey has a course on it. With his teaching superpowers, I'm convinced he could finally help me "get" DSA. Seriously, the way Jeffrey breaks things down is simply magical. Hats Off to you SIR.

I really wish it didn't end the way it did. For many, Composer is hard to use (at least on pre-built PCs with Windows). And people using XAMPP as their servers. I tried installing Laravel and had so many errors - and it was so overwhelming I literally gave up on the idea. I wish you would have gone more in depth with OOP toward the end. But overall I loved the series and learned stuff I didn't already know. Perhaps you could do a real stripped down series on Laravel geared toward people with less tech know-how, so we can at least get our feet inside the door. Just a thought. From my experience, the more problems you encounter with a framework, the less likely you'll be to try and use it -or- anything similar. This is why I have tried creating my own code infrastructure over the years... But I *am* ready to move on to something like Laravel, I just need better help, better documentation... I find the Laravel site VERY lacking in that regard. Not everyone knows what every error means... that's just how it is. Thanks for doing this series, I really enjoyed it.

XAMPP works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It works pretty much the same on all three. And the Mac and Linux version looks almost exactly alike. XAMPP contains Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP, and PhpMyAdmin. If you mess up XAMPP, just uninstall the package and then reinstall it. People say that XAMPP is not good for production environments. Ok. Then don't use it for production. I think it is perfect for learning web technology in general and for learning PHP specifically.

*Handle Multiple Request Methods From Form” You use a POST as the method in the delete form, how is it possible that you used $_GET instead of $_POST to get the id?
@Brad_Script
@Brad_Script 9 месяцев назад
$_GET and $_POST are misleading names. $_GET will return you the query parameters, which are everything after the "?" in the url. This is USUALLY used by GET requests to send key/pair values to the server, but you can use it with any type of request (POST, PATCH, DELETE, etc.) $_POST will return you the body in a key/value pair if the content-type (AKA enctype in the ) are application/x-www-form-urlencoded or multipart/form-data. This one will only work with POST request.

@christenebackhouse4419
@christenebackhouse4419 6 месяцев назад
I think you are not serving the 'Public' folder as your document root. In XAMMP, stop the Apache server, open the httpd.conf file find a section like this DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/mvc/public" your DocumentRoot, and folders will probably be pointing at c:/xammp/htdocs, make sure your project is in its own folder, and that you have the 'public' folder containing your index.php file. amend the DocumentRoot and settings to reflect your project, my project is called 'mvc' so the path to my public folder is 'mvc/public' save httpd.conf restart Apache, your server is now running from the public folder. If Apache fails, you have made a syntax error in httpd.conf. I hope this helps and doesn't confuse too much.

I just have a question on "Make Your First Service Containers", Why the need to create two separate files for "App.php" and "Container.php"? Since the "App.php" is just delegating to "Container.php", why note have only one file? Thanks in advance. - php newbie here. hoping someday to create a functioning web app using laravel.
