Yes and motobike taxis as well. You tell them to bolt rate and offer to do it for the same..then they start to complain on the way and ask for almost x2. After this i just use bolt..these motorbyke taxis will try to gauge you...every time..then they are upset when you dont use them anymore

In my Thailand travels I notify the front desk the night before that I need a taxi. Then I ask them again in the morning. I never had any problems.

It happened to me two days ago in Bangkok. The guy told me that I was worried and stressed and that's why my plans didn't succeed. He was actually right, so it freaked me out. Then he did this trick where he gives you a crumpled piece of paper and asks you three questions (all the while he is writing himself). I used to do this when I was younger, so I know when I gave him my piece of paper back, he quickly switched it with his own, so it showed all the answers I told him. He asked for 3000 baht afterwards, but I refused. Then he said he was some kind of yogi and had the power to bless and to curse (so he basically threatened me). I still refused and he ended with "God bless you" and walked away.

Hi trent, beware of buying drinks on Bangla Road and some attractive lady offers to play you at Connect 4 for free drinks. I thought it would be fun but our 480baht bill suddenly ended up at 1500 baht cos i lost 3 games... I went mental and threatened the bar wit the police but the bar finally settled on 1140 baht

The first thing he did was guide us to a travel shop but we had already been on cruises etc. I thought he would leave us alone like that was his job but when we got outside he was still there and took us to a souvenir shop across from Jacks. No prices on anything. I asked and he got upset then said we had to do the kava ceremony, sure fine, done it before. Kept saying it was to help their village and he hated the Indians even though his wife looked indian more than Fijian. In the end we bought something t oget out of the shop and he kept harping on about these little painting that looked like a school kid had painted and we actually kind of liked one of them but it was $50 and i said forget it. So in the end we were walking out and I was getting beligerent so he said hey we are friend and he gave me the painting. I said thanks and he said $50 please. So I ended up paying for it anyway. Live and learn

Yep like your other two replies just go for it, you're missing out. I went there 5 years ago for the 1st time on my own, had a great time in Chian Mai, no hassle or scams but then again I didn't visit the dodgy areas. In Bangkok some guy asked if I wanted to go and see a floor show (instant red light flashed) I politely said no, that was the only issue I had. If you're nervous just keep away from the red light bars/areas and use the Sky Train in Bangkok, I made some great (temporary) friends whilst there, very friendly people on the whole. I've just booked my flights for a return visit.

I guess your number is being sold by the isp or even worse… the spam is coming in trough sms so that is not gonna be blocked by a vpn tunnel. But your internet traffic is encrypted so when clicking the link no one can see you visited the illegal website. What I do not understand is what happens when you click the link. You get stopped in the airport? By who and what happens then? Who benefits from this scam?

I met some guy this happened to in the Philippines. He reacted the same way and just told the person go ahead send them to my family I don't care. It doesn't make sense for them to send the photos, because they won't get any money out of it and could expose themselves. Of course who knows what else they may do with them and those photos could be sold to other websites on the internet etc.

You need a medical prescription - but venders are everywhere and they sell to anyone. The chances of getting caught are slim.

I just returned from a monthlong holiday. Weed stores are open on every corner and no prescription is needed whatsoever, ever. No tourist is going to get in trouble for having it. Everything is totally in the open.

Nothing to worry about, just dont smoke in public and show police respect if they stop you, worst case is you have to give them money (lots if corrupt police in Patong)
