I was so excited to see you on another video cast! I really enjoy your projects and conversation! Thank you for inviting me into your home. When I need to give my knitting mojo some love, I knit my bliss. Whatever I want,….forget practicalities, something totally fun! My favorite summer knits are summer tanks. BTW, I’m an attorney too. I practice in Washington State. Knitting is the best way for me to relax and leave the law in the office. Like you, I knit short sleeves often. So I can wear my knits under my suit jackets.

Your half and half wrap is beautiful and your moms will be as well. What a gift filled with love! Your socks are also so beautiful. I love the title of this episode. Knowing how these words are used in the official sense, it is so powerful. You are telling someone (or something) stop taking my own time away from me, I’m not letting you do that and I’m claiming it for myself. Love it!

Phylena, so, so happy to see you back! Knitting slump, well, weirdly, I normally hate to knit in the summer months because I don't like the yarn sticking to my fingers. But during the pandemic, I think I got obsessed with knitting and can not believe how much I am knitting and how much I have on my needles. I think to break a slump, you just have to find something that just sings to you and say's you must knit me! In a 3 week period, I knit two Ranunculus and one Love Notes sweater. The Purl Soho yarn you wanted suggestions on, I would suggest the Love Notes sweater. Hold your silk yarn with a Suri/silk on size 10's and it works up amazingly fast and feels like a cloud in your lap. I knit the Ranunculus in Quince and Co. Kestrel, which is a organic Linen in a worsted/aran weight and again works up amazingly fast. I'm older than you and so, I have added sleeves to my elbows to both that I knit. Currently I have the Zweig by Caitlyn Hunter and I'm loving it as well.

Thanks for podcasting! My favorite type of knit when I’m in a funk is a shawl. I usually get into a funk when I’m worried a project isn’t going to fit, so I like that shawls don’t require accurate gauge.

It's great to see your latest podcast! I recently finished a sweater that suggested Elizabeth Zimmerman's sewn bind off. I found it to be stretchy. I knit all year long and I even knit sweaters during summer. When I can't decide what to knit next, I usually cast on yet another pair of socks. I'm a sock lover and always have a pair or 2 (!!) on the go. But, right now I have 3 since I couldn't decide which sweater to start next. Don't judge me! LOL! Glad your mojo has returned! 🙋🏾‍♀️

I was so happy to see you upload a new video! Sorry to hear you were going through a hard time and we’re unwell. I hope you are surrounded by love and support. Glad to hear you got your knitting mojo back. When I need to reset my knitting, I don’t have a specific type of thing I knit, instead, I look for a pattern that has something new and exciting about it. That might be a new stitch pattern, construction type, garment type, whatever. Just something new.

Your channel is very inviting! You have a lovely speaking voice and style! I am more of a crocheter. I never enjoyed knitting until I discovered, that as a child, I was taught to knit right handed. (I’m a lefty) Knitting is so much easier now. Still, to get out of a slump I’ll knit a small project such as a wash cloth or hat.

Happy to find your podcast! I’m really enjoying knitting summer tees. My favorite by far is the Yume Tee by Isabel Kramer. When you asked about a classy summer tee suggestion I immediately thought of it. It has a bit of lace interest at the yoke and then simple stockinette, so a nice easy knit. I used Berroco Remix Light a blend of silk, linen and a bit of nylon. Really soft drapey yarn.

Hi! I love your podcast!! You've inspired me to make a knitting-only instagram as well, so I'll follow you right away on that! My favourite summer knit is a cropped bralette. Though I love a cami or a tank as well. I recently made my own version of the 'drawstring camisole' by purl soho in 100% linen which I absolutely LOVE. I had to modify it after I made it because I did it in fingering and it didn't turn out great the first time, but it is such a cute pattern and I think a really nice more dressed up pattern. I'm going to make it again before the summer is over in a shinier bamboo that has tons of drape and shine for a more dressy look. Sorry that was a ramble. I also have no fibre friends!

I have been knitting for over 6 yrs now and I have only lost my knitting mojo once during this past winter and I just started up again last month. Have you ever tried an Italian bind off? It's still a pain when you have an entire sweater to cast off, but it's VERY stretchy, and gives a beautiful finish, especially on one by one ribbing, Highly reccomend! I'm also knitting a Kumulus top this summer. Just simple enough to work on at night, and going to be such a great staple in the wardrobe. The best!

I’m happy to see you back! Until recently I haven’t knitted anything different in the summer as opposed to other times of the year. I would just continue to work on whatever I had going. However, I finally started knitting sweaters and now I’m excited to knit tees in the summer. I just finished the Rock It Tee and I’ve cast on the Trunk Island Tank. It’s very similar to what you’re making, except instead of spaghetti straps, the straps tie at the top. I’m partway through my Half and Half Triangle wrap. I am making the smaller one and I’m a little disappointed in the small size. I had so much yarn left over after I finished the first half, it felt like a waste! I love your idea of making a “medium.” If/when I make another one, I’ll be following your cast-on. It would be great if the medium ends up using most of 4 skeins!

I’m so happy you’re back ☺️ And it’s cool that you made a separate Instagram account for knitting! I also began following knitting accounts with my graphic design account (my reasoning was that knitting also has a visual art side to it and I can be inspired artwise by looking at knitting and crochet contents) but both my timeline and explore page got too messy. I ended up making a separate account and now the explore pages on both accounts can’t get cleaner 😂 And I’m also looking forward to seeing your progress with camisole no 4! It took me a long time to finish it because of the rib pattern but the finished product is surely worth it.

I'm pretty sure this giveaway is over but that's okay. My favorite knits are vanilla socks. I knit them year round, but when I'm in a knitting rut I turn to hats. Usually I will knit a beret or slouchy beanie. Most of the time it's just what I need to get over the hump. If not, sometimes switch it up by knitting patterned socks.

If you can figure out a stretchy sewn tubular bind off, you're the MVP because I CANNOT get it to be stretchy Have you thought about just knitting the neckline double length and doing a fold over situation? That way it'll give you the professional finish you're looking for and still be adequately stretchy?

I find those set up rows to make a sewn tubular bind off stiff. Skip them and just do the sewn bind off. Check out Purl SoHo’s tubular bind off tutorial. I also really like Tanis Lavalee’s description of how to do it, in her City Limits pattern. Hope this helps ❤️

I've been knitting on a few No. 1 Vests this summer. I absolutely love the idea of the half and half wrap, but I can't imagine myself wearing it. I'm considering making it for a blanket for the couch in our living room. What are your thoughts? I LOVE your cuff idea for your sock! So glad to have found your podcast!

It would make a great blanket! I love it for the process of the knit AND the versatility of the finished object

My favorite summer knits is of course summer tops, any crop tops or airy-type top that screams summertime. I honestly don’t care about knitting wool in the summer even though I live in Miami lol.

Maybe I'm the only person that does this but I love to knit my sweaters in the summer. That way I can have New sweaters in the winter. I also knit socks but I do that all the time so I don't count them as summer knits.

I know the giveaway is over... but my fave summer projects are fancy crochet bralettes and a crochet sun hat, reinforced with wire rope.
