The actress that played Audrey died not too long after this, so if the show went on for another season, a third cast member would have died during its run....

@@fad23 No, I meant Audrey. “Phyllis” went off the air in 1977 and she died in 1978.

James L Brooks created The Mary Tyler Moore show. He probably saved the best scripts from MTM. While giving the leftovers to the spinoffs.
