Apologies for the weird angle of the panel, I didn't have much room to work with! I built myself a physical guard panel for SCR to enhance my guarding experience. Here I showcase it!
Excited for a DIY build tutorial with the Arduino code if you're up for sharing! Looks really clean If theoretically we added some logic around key insertion in the game, could you use capacitive touch to detect when the key is entered in your panel? 👀
@@BanTechSystems Hiya, I don't think there is a way I could do that with the things that I have. I didn't make the keyswitch myself, I simply bought it online. The keyswitch has 3 positions, Off, Local close and Local open (all unlabeled but I know which is which) similar to the class 331/195. As far as I am aware, having the key inserted but in the off position doesn't enable anything on those trains, similar to my design. Having it in Local Close will activate the panel for controls, also similar to mine. I can detect this local close state, so if that sounds like something that would work for you, feel free to shoot me a dm on discord (@theblockybanana) other than that, Not much I can do im afraid!
@@SlavaArduino123 Thank you so much! It was actually really fun to make. I'd had the idea for ages before that and so I decided "sack it" and I'm really glad I did!
Hiya, I'm guarding a class 331 in the video, the build is practically identical to the 195. The panel I made is based off the class 331/195's guard panel, so that's what I guarded!
How much did this cost to make I would love to make one! Will it ever go on sale if it will I will definitely buy this! I work for a miniature railway and I usually am the guard. You better make a tutorial or I gonna be angy!!!!!!!! I'm ur 100th sub.
Runs off an Arduino Leonardo which is inside the box. Programmed the Arduino in the Arduino IDE and no other software runs when I'm using the panel. The box is really quite plug and go, it's just a weird looking keyboard
I have reprogrammed it in the past to work for British Railway. However with BR you have to click the on-screen panel before you can use keybinds. Apart from that, yes it does work, with some changed code because the keybinds are different.
@@ubahni 100% correct! The cable used for receiving keystrokes is also the cable used for sending code. When SCR was broken, I set it up for British Railway, which didn't work as well as SCR did (I have to click the in game panel to open it) but did still work. I also set it up for DJMN lines, with green being ato start.
