Rest in peace Olivia. You fought cancer for so long it is truly admirable. You will be missed. I remember this performance. I loved solid gold back in the day.
Are you aware that Andy Gibb hosted Solid Gold back in the day? I miss his singing just as much as I miss Olivia Newton John. I'm sure this is a tough time for Chloe right now. What is your favorite Oliva Newton John song?
@@olivervanburen302 I personally enjoyed the song Fly Away with John Denver. I think it was one of her best songs ever. Did you ever see her live in concert?
Maryann, do you do your aerobics in tight spandex leotards, like Jane Fonda used to do in the 80s? Can you send me a pic of yourself doing aerobics in spandex?
i was about18 when this came out . I used to move like they could. I;m 62 now and it;s hard to get out of bed..Life is cruel sometimes. Loved those times in my youth...Olivia your still a wonder.
Who’s here after hearing the bad news? She was one of my first youthful crushes, I was a tiny tot when this came out, legendary artist…rest In Peace Queen 🙏
Not only could she sing, she could keep up with any of the Solid Gold dancers, just like she was one of them. So incredible. Love you Olivia. Rest in peace.
The reason people crushed on Olivia is because not only was she pretty she sang with attitude and sassiness. She looked at the camera like she was daring someone to step to her.
Yes it blocked Foreigner's Waiting for a girl like you from the top spot. Their song spent 9 weeks at #2 holding an all time record for a song to stay at #2 without going to #1.
Surprisingly!"get physical"was beaten by "betty Davis-eyes"at best song/video;immature disappointment-ejaculation in my part.LUV. both songs for nostalgia

How many female singer's today can do what Olivia Newton John showed her physical skills let alone sing truly a pleasure to watch n hear Olivia sing there would be hardly any ........ Respect and love to Olivia's memory .... heaven now has a beautiful angel 😍😍😍😍😍👍😃
RIP Olivia. You will be loved forever. You made more women get physical, you put pink back on the map, you made Grease the word and your records not only made music history, but you changed culture in so many ways. Thank you for being Olivia Newton-John.
I remember this. I was 14 and I used to watch Solid Gold every week. The sexual nature of the lyrics kinda went over my head at the time, it wasn't until I was practically an adult that I finally understood what that song was REALLY about. I didn't even know it was that controversial! Still a great song though, seeing this clip is bringing so many great memories of the 80's. Rest In Peace Olivia, you will always be one of my faves.🙏🕊
It’s so funny they found this so inappropriate compared to the music nowadays with Carnie B singing WAP. Makes me laugh. This was more acceptable with a woman whom was extremely so talented and so beautiful.
I am a Japanese 61 years old. Around 1977 I had her poster on my room. She had a red dress. And still she had a long hair. Later she expanded into the United States. When my interest was fading, I knew this song. In British years she didn`t show even her shins. But in this video she has her crotch wide open wearing a leotard. Not considered to be from her British days. This action was shocking. I think I was surprised at the time watching a music video. I was surprised at how radical the change was. I guess she wanted to be free from her image. Now this is also a nostalgic memory.
I will never NOT Love Olivia, ❤️. My heart literally broke the day I got the news of her passing, 💔. Thank you for all that you gave us Olivia, you definitely left a beautiful footprint on this Earth. 🌹
I was a freshman in college in the fall of 1981, and this performance is such an iconic memory of my college years. If memory serves, this was the debut of the song before it was released as a single. I couldn't wait to get the 45 and then the LP and cassette when it arrived at the record store. Olivia has been my favorite performer since Have You Never Been Mellow. Truly saddened by her passing, but her music and movies and kindness will always LIV on!
Well she's a great singer but there are no live vocals in this video, in the 80s none of these shitty TV shows actually ever let artists perform live but just mime to a recording
At age 13 in winter of 1981, I bought the Physical 45 single at Gold Circle 🟡⚫. I recall it bouncing its way to #1 for 10 long weeks November 1981 until the end of January 1982, RIP 🌹🕊📻 🎶🧡🖤💔.
Olivia Newton-John is electrifying such a kind-hearted person always thinking about the other person asking them how they feel she was absolutely stunning her voice or beauty so many things you can say she will never be forgotten
Sheesh, I saw Olivia perform this song (lip sync) 16 or 17 times in '80 or '81. I applied for tickets to see the show 'Solid Gold' (Andy Gibb was hosting) and my girlfriend and I got in. Back then they just set up folding chairs (perhaps only 100 or so) right up againt a small circular and elevated stage and she was literally only a few feet from me when she swung by. I guess she is a perfectionist and she performed 16 or 17 takes of the complete song until she got it right - in her own mind. I thought they were all perfect. She even bent over and through me a little kiss. One of the best nights of my life.
That's a great story Joe!!! I waited on her on the central coast of California in the early '80s, and you're right--as sweet and kind as you'd ever hope she'd be. I had the good fortune to enjoy a twenty yr marriage to a very attractive blonde (and the mother of my children) in real life and my obsession with Olivia had been something of a running joke. Good woman that she was (and still is) she tolerated and allowed me to indulge in a lifelong crush of Dame OLIVIA
That’s a great story Joe! We weren’t that far apart. Crazy! I was there that night. Alex Cole (red headed dancer) was the singer in our band and he got me in to meet different acts and dance partied with the dancers on occasion. Good people! Was able to spend a little time with Olivia in the bus before the show. She was very sweet and a down to earth person. R.I .P. Olivia🙏
@@belliferous6761 I wish I had a chance to meet her that night. I think. I would have been a bumbling idiot unable to breath had I been standing in front of her. You were a very lucky man. I'm so sad to hear of her passing. At least we have our memories!
@@andysani9732 I was with a very pretty girlfriend that night and she was a very understanding woman too as she just played along with all the very, very silly things I'm sure I blathered on about after Olivia through me that kiss. I was the most important dude in that building for half a second. What a wonderful memory.
The song was first offered to Rod Stewart then Tina Turner, who both refused. Classic dance routine. ONJ really captured the moment. Aerobics, leg warmers, headband - I remember this style was extremely popular. I bought the 45 record. I remember this clip when it first was shown on Solid Gold! Always watched the show every Saturday night.
I watched Solid Gold religiously, every week. I still have most of the episodes on VHS, 41 years later. To this day, I watch those ancient VHS tapes in my room, in secret, and masturbate to the lovely ladies. As a 10 yr old boy in 1981, I remember getting very, very aroused when I saw these ladies in tight satin panties (or whatever they were called) and shiny bras. I am eternally grateful to my elder sisters for taping Solid Gold on our parents' JVC VHS recorder. Amazingly, the picture quality, though degraded somewhat, is still acceptable today. You can still clearly see the ladies' camel toes in all their glory. I have never masturbated to any woman more than I have to Gayle Crofoot. I estimate that I have jerked off to Gayle roughly 9000 times in the last 41 years. She's just stunning. Even at age 69, Gayle looks fabulous. She's not fuc*able anymore, of course, but she still looks gorgeous.
Can believe her talent and beauty has leaving this world... Olivia you are and you always will be a disco diva, gay icon, style influencer, country star and humanitarian soul! RIP 🙏🏻🌟
Besides being so adorable Olivia was also a table setter on music this song started the gym craze in the 80s and still to this day is the longest running single to hit # 1 for 10 weeks Olivia set the standard for all female dingers to follow Mariah Madonna and do on there will never be anyone like her again she touched so many lives with everything that she has done and will always be remembered in our hearts
Olivia Newton-John is so adorable in this video . A true legend Who would Lght up our Emotions & the Crowd who she performed to !! So physical and energetic was always pleasing to the crowd demands in Her Only Way !!! R.I.P. My Loving Angle Olivia Newton-John !!! You will be Truly Miss !!!
I was 4 when this song came out. Afterwards I couldn't help but get hard as a rock every single time she was on TV. I sat with my family any time Grease was on and I still have no idea what it's about. The hetero toddler thirst was REAL. RIP to an Australian national treasure.
