For the doctors, its all about extracting money from the patients. When I had my knee replacement, I slept all night. Physical Therapy began the first morning and again at night for 2-3 days. Once you leave the hospital, you begin go to Physical therapy everyday for the next 30 days except for the weekend. I reached my goal in 2 weeks. I wanted to leave therapy because i met my goal, but they chewed me out and coerced me to keep coming. The woman pressured me to finish the last 2 weeks of PT. She insisted I still needed to go. (Why would a person still need to attend PT when they already met their goal? ) I'll tell you why. Because if you don't keep coming for the 30 days, they lose big money. Its all about MONEY.
Depends on the goals. PT's also have to incorporate objective goals into their Plan of Care. Maybe it hadn't been met. Perhaps you were functioning generally, but not performing safely. Are you aware of how long it takes for all the involved tissues to heal? Bone, Muscle/tendon, ligaments, skin. Do you know how quickly one bad decision can regress you back into the OR or the ICU? How about the biomechanics of gait/walking and the forces it impacts on joints other than the knee? Primarily if the knee isn't functioning optimally. How about we take a deep breath and pause before we attribute malicious intent to someone who likely has your best interest at heart. Especially at 2 weeks - that is some major progress. Maybe your goals were simply short-sighted. Maybe you're just too concerned with money.
