In this video I will find q=?, of 2 positively charged objects of mass=m, suspended from strings of length=L, a distance d away, and an angle=theta away from the vertical.
Next video in this series can be seen at:

I was taught this a few months ago and I understood nothing. But now I get it all thanks to your explanation skills. Thank you professor for putting so much effort in recording these videos. You deserve a nobel prize for doing such valuable videos. You're the champ 🏆.

A Nobel prize is a bit much, but we do appreciate your nice comment. 🙂

Great video. Just wondering how do we know that the resultant forces triangle that you drew is in fact a square triangle? Using the tangent formula implies that it is a square triangle. But it is not clear to me. Please explain. Thanks.
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 2 года назад
Because the direction of one of the forces is along the x-axis and the direction of the other force is along the y-axis. Therefore, by necessity, they will form a right triangle.

what if, we are using the formula F = Qt/R^3 (Rvector)? is it the easiest ones compared to what youve been tutored?

In the previous video I though you did a mistake but luckiy I found out that I have no idea what I am talkin about pretty fast. It took me half an hour to recognize that :D

How to calculate mass if they having same charge but angle is different attached to the same ceiling point ??
@tumisangpheto2509
@tumisangpheto2509 2 года назад
what about solving the negatively charged object of mass
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 2 года назад
You can solve a problem like this with negative charges in the exact same way. Or you can also solve a problem like this with on positive and one negative charge. The spheres would then be attracted towards one another and again you would solve it in the same way (with the angle on the other side).

Sir how do we take that X=L sin (theta) and Why?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 6 лет назад
sin(theta) represents the ration of the opposite side to the hypotenuse sin(theta) = x/L

What if the strings are not of same length
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 6 лет назад
Then the repulsive forces would not be parallel to the ground and you would have to add vector components.

How do you know that the angles are the same?
@MichelvanBiezen
@MichelvanBiezen 5 лет назад
It doesn't matter if the charges are not the same, the force on each object will be the same, and the mass of each object is the same.
