This is simply perfect. Full explanation of the healing process in a way almost anyone can make sense of. I cut my ankle the other day, including severing a very small surface blood vessel, and this explains everything. And I'm watching it for free on my phone. What an age we live in, and what a nice guy Dr Campbell is to put the time and effort in to provide this for us!
Thank you verymuch doctor Campbell for all the effort to explain well about wounds were very lucky on this millinial times on u tube we learn already .Thanks for U tube and google aswell
Sir, you have made a complicated, scientific medical process much more understandable for a layman like me. I find this so amazing and a new wonderment in our human bodies.
@@AhmetHabsa Yes. Except because the existence of God can neither be proven nor disproven, it makes me strongly suspect rather than believe. The fact that so much of nature is and always will be far beyond anything humans could conceive or design is another compelling argument.
@@AhmetHabsa There must have been a first mover. It seems plausible that it could be god. I feel the same, and I don't mean to be strident, but that's my conclusion. What is god? We can't know, but we can choose to believe. I can't get past my logic. There is something that puts me in a state of awe.

Thanks for such a superb presentation. The clear perfectly timed speech is so important to any presentation like this. You make me wish I had studied this sort of stuff for my career! This also makes me realise that no computer program or AI system will ever replace a great communicator like yourself. Thanks again.
I'm getting my Bachelor degree on computer technology, but as a homework i got to model and simulate some biological event. I chose the wound healing and I'm so glad that I found this video, it explains so much. Especially I love how he explains the complex word by decomposing them to smaller pieces. Great teacher!
I thank you for your time to explain something most people do not understand... I have been dealing with ulcers that have had gangrene and nearly cost me my leg about 25yrs ago... now again I am dealing with making sure my scars do not open backup, often busting open about twice a year.. I have never had anyone explain things as well as you have... another scar that I have had has busted open and ended up with showing gangrenous necrosis... I've been diagnosed with Pryoderma Gangrenosum... among other health issues and all I get from physicians is all that can be done is treat the issues as they happen...
I am a nursing student and I find your lectures on wound stages/healing to be excellent!!!! Dr. Campbell, you can add "Phases of wound healing" to the title of this video - it will attract more views! Thank you so much!
As an Optometrist, I have learned so much from this teaching, simplistic and well summarised. 😃😃I am impressed with the way he explains the physiological components. Well done for explaining the 4 stages and understanding the key principles and goals of wound healing . Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Thank you Doctor Campbell healing from a 2nd degree burn as I visualize the natural process explained by your videos from your years of experience and dedication while healing others, thank you kindly Dr. Campbell again for the sacrifices you have made allowing people as myself to understand and benefit in real time from your journey as a Doctor on our precious journey described as reality here on planet Earth...be safe and healthy wherever you maybe.... peace and love always, from United States of America....

Thank you very much sir I am not science student but I under stand very clearly because I am going through deep wound healing process due to infected mesh implantation surgery after a big hernia surgery thank you sir again now I am going through deep wound healing process after mesh explantation
This is really helpful, thank you! Even just for laypeople who are wondering about whether a wound is healing or whether they should try and see a doctor. Which is a job of work these days! Put my mind at rest. Also, it's incredibly interesting. What an amazing process.
Ok. Some people are just gifted. He made that lecture feel like every wound that is out there depended on it. I am here because my lovely sister has been chosen by a large leg wound. I am glad to learn that a wound that looks so bad is because so much is going as it takes time to heal. The same skin that has been used to cause so much racism is the same skin that hides the mess underneath it which without , no man is presentable to an eye that helps the mind in presenting and judging one another. A broke skin exposes decay so we ought to celebrate rather than make it a human enemy.Thank you Dr C for knowledge. Thanks RU-vid. Thank you lovely people.
I am fed up with doctors too, I try to look after my own health as much as I can, only see them as last resort. I meditate to release stress, sleep long, exercise as much as is practical, eat vegetables with no meat mostly. So far health is good, but who knows
This is a great lecture for helping me understand my foot ulcer. Unfortunately, mine is a diabetic foot ulcer that was caused by a simple blister on a charcot foot. I am watching this very slow healing over a period of months. I go to an Infectious Disease Center three times a week for antibiotic infusions and wound care. So tired of it. It will be for at least six months. The good news is the ulcer has not gone close to the bone so less chance of bone infection and foot amputation. Diabetes is a MONSTER.
I don't know how any intelligent individual could sit and watch such an excellent and extremely detailed explanation of this process and NOT SEE the hand of The Eternal at work.
I found Dr. Campbell during Covid, but wow, this is the best explanation I have ever received in terms of communication and teaching aids for understanding the miraculous nature of how a human body heals. The cellular structures appear quite capable, without human intervention, for most common colds I would logically deduce. Thank-you!!!
Thank you Dr John for the first time in my 23yr experience of being an icu nurse and currently Woundcare nurse I have a good understanding of wound healing process 🙌💕
Found this video after my thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer... had flash backs to my time combat tour in Iraq when he said QRF (quick reaction force). Didn't expect to hear that. Thanks for the detailed video.
Best explanation video, most vids only tell you how to remove stitches, they never explain its process of a wound and for how long to keep the stitches in for, all videos have been a disappointed until yours, thank u for your time in educating us 💝
very authoritative. i have been reading about wound healing and this description by Dr. Campbell has given me the best understanding so far, especially the linking of the healing process with the immunel responses, e.g cytokines formation. Thanks
'Cause of Covid I'm taking lots more vitamin D, zinc, magnesium and my scratches are healing too fast for more to keep them open. Ummm yes, I''m a chronic scratcher and have always had 5 or 6 open spots on my skin. This was interesting, and I think it'll encourage me to have more self-control.
Many thanks for this wonderful video Dr. Campbell, you have a wonderful gift, not all professors can explain as well as you do. Please continue your good work 🤗
Loved the content especially the last picture which is best suited for common people like me to understand this concept. Having pictures of real life wound healing would make much more sense for common people like me
Ok...this helped. Moms postoperative wound wasn't healing after two months looked worse. After watching several of your videos on the topic we are moving in the right direction again. Should only take a few more days (not months).
I learned a lot. Great Explanations. Would be nice to have a few actual pictures beyond the great one at the end that show how these real cells look like. I understand that this is NOT as simple as the diagrams but would be GREAT to connect in my mind how these cells and other elements look via microscope and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) for even smaller things described with your additional comments about them. Thanks so much again, you are a great teacher.
It was such a pleasure to listen to you! Thank you. I am not close to the medicine, I am the designer. I injured my feet and I was wondering what was going wrong in the healing process. Riveting explanation! From now on I will not peel off the scab from the wound 😂
Hi doctor Campbell, I thank you for this extraordinary video, it has help me understood many things regarding to the wound healing process. May I have your permission to translate and share this video on Facebook giving credit to your person and sharing a link to your original video?

It’s a shame that in this day and age in the UK there are still people having their leg ulcers ‘just managed’ when in fact there are procedures available that can cure or hugely improve a venous leg ulcer if the underlying cause is treated appropriately.

How amazing has God created us, even this process of wound healing is nothing short of miraculous. Sadly sin has caused sickness, suffering and pain to come in. But one day all will be restored. There is hope.
Took me years to cure 2 leg ulcers despite the odd visits to a clinic. I eventually figured it out, used honey dressings combined with dressing which drained the ulcer. Thus was first done in a clinic but with no explanation, so I did not continue. If 2 minutes were used to explain the process I would have healed in a month. A pharmacist explained it to me, not a nurse or doctor.....my hero
Can you please share what brand of honey you used and how often you changed it please? Did you use saline to clean it out before applying honey? Was the honey applied on the gauze first? Sorry so many questions just desperate for a bed sore ulcer. Thank you
@@jesus.ceciliarodriguez6496 Ok. The trick is to draw off the exudation. There are sponge dressings that do this, changed every few days when full, may be smelly. Then use a Manuka honey dressing, or try a jell dressing with Manuka honey smeared on it, covered with elastoplast or bandage. You will have to experiment. The secret is the keeping the ulcer moist but drained and the antibiotic effect of the honey working. Good luck.
@@johnburman966 you would have got a similar result with an alginate dressing impregnated with silver, it’s antibacterial like honey and keeps the wound moist.
I did use silver dressings but I think in my case it was the combination of honey, and drainage and silver and keeping it moist that might have done the trick. They are a devil to heal.
This video was very informative. One of the biggest takeaways I took from the video was the importance of Angiogenesis and the role it plays in wound healing. My questions to you are; At what stage in the wound healing process does Angiogenesis take place? Does Angiogenesis take place before the granulation process occurs in a wound? Can a wound heal without Angiogenesis occurring?
Fantastic lecture. So, I have a wound that hasn’t healed in 6 months. Complete colon resection. After radiation and chemo, surgery was over 6 months ago and the wound isn’t healing. The surgeon says have to let it heal by itself, but it is not having success. Is there anything I can do to promote healing in complex wounds?
Perhaps you have already discovered why it's healing slowly but I'll share my experiences. Had hip replacement surgery and external healing was lengthy but there was much healing going on internally. You had chemo plus the surgical procedure so it may be a normal time frame. But my outside healing and scar minimizing took at least 8 months. Your surgeon is correct. What you can do is "encourage regeneration" (Dr. Campbell mentioned here). A nutritious diet and appropriate physical excercise always help healing (age also is a factor in the time). Hope this is helpful and you will see results soon.
I read some work by Barbara Ehrenreich a few years ago. At the time, new research indicated that, on occasion, the macrophase can go AWOL and assist cancer cells. In thinking of them as an adaptation, it puzzles me why nature would throw that in to mystify me.
Nice to know how and why my bullet wound in my back took so long to heal. It was a bugger having to have it dressed every day for over a month. Must have been a bit short of the neutrofils.
