Same here, maybe not until I retire but besides spending a hand full of coins to help give the coin a "purpose" I'll also HODL the majority of my coins for at least a couple of years.
It will only take a few years, but that's why we keep diversifying our portfolio. Bitcoin came in 2008, way before Any adoption. The knowledge is out and Pi won't have to wait as long at all
I think some people are desperate for an answer if PI is worth in the short term. I suggest to see PI as a very long project and investment. The idea behind it seems good, so if you can’t live with, keep moving on.

You should update this video because there are changes since it was posted. The mining rate is way lower now. The app is not a wallet. Anyone in your security circle who quits mining or doesn't pass the KYC security part means that you will lose all the bonus PI that you got from them being in your circle. This video is really decent for the time it was made but that was a year or more and PI has already gone to MainNet

Someone in the pi management should create pi staking pools for after phase 3 so people can't take it out for 3 or 6 months for an increased earning rate of course. This might further protect from mass dumping.

Thanks, Christian this is a very informative video, and I have got my answer for my questions about Pi. I have one more question about trading by using Pi coins in the future. As you mentioned, is it going to be possible in all countries to buy a pizza or to pay for the items that we buy through eBay or Amazon etc. Who is going to make these companies accept payments by Pi coins?
Nobody can guarantee that Amazon or any other company for that matter will accept Pi, but once it reaches phase three and is listed on an exchange you can always just sell a few coins for FIAT and than use that money to pay on Amazon. Or like it works right now - as shown in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajCEGLNLNJo.html - you could pay another Pi Network user in Pi coins and he/she then orders for you on Amazon and pays with his own money.

Interesting video, but my question to you is: how do we know Pi will certainly reach phase 3? What if the project fails and all this mining goes to waste? Is there a guarantee that Pi will actually become cryptocurrency one day?

One question I do have is about the market cap of pi coin on the network, I don’t know if you mentioned this in the video but if you did maybe I missed it. My question is will they lower the market cap as the coin gains more attraction and more trust? I feel like this is a big factor in the price of the coin. If there is too much supply of the coin the price will always be low.
There are already more than 2 TRILLION USD in circulation and they just voted to print another 1.9 TRILLION yet the price of most essential items, like groceries, hasn't doubled. So, sure supply plays an important role but it's by far not the most important factor if you currency is in demand and has a huge userbase that uses it. Pi can't reduce it's supply and until we reach phase three and all coins of unverified accounts get burned we won't know the total supply. The supply is, however, for me one of the least important factors because it means nothing if there isn't an active userbase and ways how you can use the coin.

The last step is currently manually done on the team's end and AFAIK they focus on getting the last KYC issues worked out before the next migrations are going to happen. In short, nobody knows right now how long it will take but I'd expect at least a couple more weeks.

Sorry but if you are to impatient and consider it too much effort to press a button once per day to maybe get a ton of money in a few years from now then you'll never achieve wealth because there is no fast and easy way to get there. Pi is a great opportunity because even if the project fails you only lose 5 seconds of your time per day and if they succeed you may suddenly look at a lot of money.

If my phone is running mining software then performance and battery will degrade. Maybe negligible, but still nonzero amount. One possibility is my phone is being used in distributed computing to do work for someone’s project. This could be embedded as part of Pi whether Pi is legit or a scam.
Just one problem with that theory... there is no such thing as actual mining on mobile devices because any app that is listed in the App or Google Play store is checked to some extend and apps that contain any kind of cryptomining code won't get approved.

No, my prediction is that we don't know the actual value until phase 3 is reached. Only with phase 3 will we know the total supply AND coins from all unverified users will get burned (which means you'll lose some of your 4k coins from users you invited that don't verify their accounts). After that, the actual value will depend on how many users actually use Pi in their daily lives (supply & demand) and if demand increases over time so will the price per coin because the supply is limited. So, it is possible that Pi will achieve a value of $100 in a few years, even if it sounds crazy right now. Don't forget, in 2010 somebody paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas and now those coins are worth $130,000,000 and that happened because there is demand for BTC and the supply is limited to 52 million coins.

7:35. I think it is changed, now. I think they limit it to 5 people, so you are only referring people you are willing to vouch for and you consider trustworthy.
You can invite as many people as you want, but the mining speed bonus in your security circle is limited to the first five people you add there. And, yes, in phase three you should only keep people you trust in your security circle, but until then you can add "anyone" to get the full mining rate bonus.

Not really. It's a thought-through crytpo project that aims to establish enough usecases to achieve a reasonable value per coin. If everyone were to try to sell their coins on day 1 and nobody would want to buy (because of lack of usecases), the value would be $0. Hence, it's not free money.
Maybe, it's mentioned at 09:57 but since there is no set date yet my answer to that question is also short. My personal opinion is that it will be within the next 12 months, but obviously it's up to the Pi core team and may therefore happen sooner or later. While I wish it would happen sooner, I'm also seeing the benefit of being able to mine more coins if it takes longer.
Most likely not because there are going to be a lot of coins in circulation so it won't achieve values like BTC. BUT that doesn't mean that it won't achieve a decent value over time and allow people to make a decent profit.

Officially you'll only be able to do that once Pi reaches phase three, but within communities like TPL (see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajCEGLNLNJo.html ) you can already sell products/services in exchange for Pi coins.

Is it completely necessary to have total trust in people in your security circle? How come once it reaches phase 3 it should be only trusted people? Is there some way people can steal your Pi coin or make you lose it somehow?
No, right now it's just about having 5 people to increase your mining rate. Once Pi goes live it matters because adding somebody in your security circle gives him "credit" and that will allow the network to determine which users can not be trusted. It's explained in more detailed in the white paper at minepi.com/white-paper in the "Pi Ledger And Shared Trust Graph - Scaling Trust Across The Web" section.
