What do you think of the Piaggio 1 Active? Let us knows in the comments

It's great. Only downside is it's made in china. But then there's the Vespa Elettrica. If you got the dough.

I first bought Piaggio One Plus, but I was not happy with the limited speed of 45 km/h. Also, uphill drive was very slow and frustrating. Sold it just 2 months after I bought it. Then I bought Piaggio One Active, and...what a scooter! Speed limit 60 km/h, but easily goes to 70 km/h, uphill 40-50 km/h, even with 2 persons. Battery life: 50 km. :)

Can you still go fast at the range of 50km or is it like if you get to 40km you can go to 50km but in eco mode? Or can you go to the range of 50km and stil go 60km/h
@damirjovic27

@@DodgeNL I'm not sure, but sometimes (not always) around 20% dash shows ''limit'' sign. Then is a bit slower, around 35-40 km/h.

Good comments, I want to replace my Piaggio zip 50 2t with the Active but love in a hilly area (steep) and was concerned about it's ability. Also acceleration. Any additional information would be welcome. Thanks

American here... I think the Piaggio One Active makes a lot of sense (though I wish it hit 40mph on flat roads!) for urban and suburban commutes. Some people aren't convinced by electric vehicles to make them their main vehicle, or at least don't want to give up a gas car for road trips and such, so an eScooter is a nice "additional" vehicle to visit your mates, cafe, post office, grab bread and milk, or other errands. Sadly I don't know of US gov't subsidies on eScooters like this, but even at the full MSRP the Piaggio 1 Active is a more affordable way to dip into EV's. Other personal/micro mobility vehicles just aren't practical: pedal assist eBikes are limited to 28 mph (20mph in some states!) and a lack of bike lanes means they can't coexist with 35-40mph car traffic, same issue for electric "kick" scooters (the standing kind) and they are also illegal on sidewalks, electric skateboards face the same problems as above and are even less safe/stable (especially susceptible to crashing on cracks), and electric unicycles are hard to learn (and you may also get stopped by police for riding them on sidewalks away from cars). While gas combustion motorcycles are occasionally seen on US roads, they have a stigma of being intimidating... even gas scooters are rare because people don't want the maintenance and view them as "leisure vehicles" rather than dependable means of transport. Hopefully we see more electric scooters like the Piaggio One Active, though it and the Niu scooters are already providing some interest for early adopters.

love the retro looks, reminds of old school Zip SP with single sided front swingarm / disk break. I reckon is a great looking bike for town commuting.

I'm in Italy and just bought one, was delivered to me yesterday, I haven't tried it yet, I was browsing on some reviews in order not to miss anything important or risk remaining stuck away from home without knowing how to come back... Actually, I was tempted to take it for a ride today, but the cold just turned me off, I'll wait for a warmer day...

I really like this bike and had a good look around one when buying my Guzzi V7 recently. I would need a 125/200cc equivalent for it to be viable for me though, fingers crossed they'll come up with something in the near future.

More suited to a city commute I think. Been riding since April to work which is 17 miles a day so I have to charge daily which is a nuisance. Speed is enough for me, tops 37-40. Mileage is 30-31 on Sport. Local dealer is 17 miles away so they have to charge my battery for me which is another annoyance. Not easy to buy accessories and neither is it easy to communicate with Piaggio who can ignore emails, also from the dealer. Not many will think the electric revolution is good with this one because of the limited mileage and inability to charge easily. Not sure they have 3 pin plugs at charging stations as I haven't been to one.

I bought it for 2800 and regret it. The range is just too limited and the charging is too slow. I would wait a few years to buy an electric one or look for another brand. There are way cheaper better performing mopeds from other brands.

@@murkussin1026 I only consider the extended range which has way more range. Charing and range aside, do you think it is a decent buy? I will buy slightly used second hand, not brand-new.

@murkussin1026 2 года назад
@@addeade231 it's a nice looking moped for sure, that's why I bought it because it looks like a Zip. It drives smoothly and nice but uphill and acceleration is pretty slow. If you can get it second hand and the battery is still in good quality you could buy it. With the extended range it's definitely better. I still plan on buying the stronger battery one day but parts are not really available like that because it's not on the market for long.

You can. Aslong as you passed your car test before 2001. You don't need a cbt or lplates. But after 2001. You need cbt and l plates.

@deanob29 2 года назад
@@JDMz what I've read, the active model not the base model you need a CBT or a1 license, because it's like an 80cc equivalent
@clangerbasher
@clangerbasher 2 года назад
The whole licensing scheme for small end bikes and what we can buy here in the UK is a mess. We need to be able to have 1kw pedal assist electric bikes as we can have 250w bikes now. We need to get back to de-restricted 50cc like we had back in the 70's. We need to do something about A2 so you can do your test on anything on or over 250cc.
@JakeM218
@JakeM218 2 года назад
Think they do different ones. Same with the Vespa elettrica. One is a 50cc equivalent and so is car licence friendly. For the quicker models (quicker than 30mph), you need L plates and CBT - or A1 licence.
@BikeMatters

Just get the standard Piaggio One, that is the one equivalent to a 50cc moped.

I have had my Active One nine months and it has been a big disappointment. The scooter is slow with weak acceleration. The suspension is absolute garbage. The front shock would not hold a screen door shut and constantly bottoms out although I only weigh 68 kgs. My local dealer refuses to work on it or replace the front shock under warranty. I will be trading it in on another Vespa soon. My 20 year old et2 was a much better scooter as was my Yamaha Zuma.

The music doesn't drown out his voice while I'm listening with headphones... just tested with my Mac Mini's built-in speaker, even there I'm able to separate his voice from the music easily enough to understand him. I could see it being an issue with a smartphone speakerphone though.

@evshrug
@evshrug Год назад
True, though with this you have the option to refuel at home, or even invest in a one time purchase that will provide power at no additional cost for 14 years or more (solar panels). For me, personally, I have such a short daily driving range that I wouldn't even need to recharge fully from zero, so I wouldn't even need much solar.
@clangerbasher
@clangerbasher Год назад
@@evshrug I had my panels installed last week. My ridgeline runs north south so isn't ideal. But I am amazed how much I am getting from there here in the rainy UK in autumn. They will be a supplement to a battery that is on its way. But I still had to buy them. PV's aren't the cleanest things to manufacture nor are batteries. Have fun on you bile. And keep safe out there. 🙂
