Rob Araujo is a shining example of a successful musician in today's music industry- with millions of streams on Spotify and other platforms, he uses various social media to share a large quantity of content while also having mastered the art of modern music production to create pristine music that blends neo soul, hip hop and jazz all on his own. In this episode, we discuss what it takes to be a pianist in today's world- including Rob's approach to the aforementioned skills, as well as how he views harmony, dissonance in improvisation, and more.
Rob also gives us a fantastic breakdown tutorial of his song 'Moonrock' and how the chords / harmony work. He also brings up the midi of his solo so we can transcribe it on the spot and take a deep dive into his improvisation and how he approaches dissonance.

@@NoahKellman It was good to know his perspective and approach to music production. Also, I was able to feel the depth of his artistic thinking and thoughts that were not revealed on the surface in music, which is why the video was good. It would be even better if I had a chance to see his production process :)

I’m with Rob, I’m weird about sharps and flats. F# C# have to be sharp and Ab Bb and Eb have to be flat, doesn’t matter what key we’re in
