After 6 long months, and a terribly busy semester, I have found the time to create this arrangement.
But firstly, I got to thank my anime-orchestra mates from UTDallas for making me such a huge fan of the fire emblem franchise *stareeee*. Our student-run anime orchestra also played this piece during one of our performances in May. It also just so happens that we performed this exact same song during the concert.
Which was what gave me the initial feels, motivating me to transcribe this bittersweet melody sung by Azura in fire emblem fates. In all honesty, hitori omou has some of the best instrumentals you'll ever ask for. It just resonates so nicely with the melody.
However, there was a particular part of the melody which just didn't work with me at all, (bars 30 - 36 ). It's the part where Azura sings " Hikari e te o nobasu / Reaching out to the light". Initially, the first play through was okay, then the second repeat started to throw my musical senses off a little. Hence, why the I added an original part substituting the 3rd repeat.
I also found the ending unjustifiable and was not quiet satisfied. I hurdled in my corner for days thinking on new ideas for those particular bars. And in the end, I decided to go with a "lullaby" melody of the chorus, ending it sweetly. Its all experimental, let me know in the comments on what you think.
Lastly, I have played and completed both Birthright and Conquest routes just recently. Transitioning from Birthright to Conquest, where you sided with Nohr against your Hoshidan siblings was literally an arrow in your kokoro. IT HIT ME SO HARD, THOSE DIALOGUES NAILED RIGHT INTO MY FEELS. Nevertheless, it was a rather interesting twist compared to the Hoshidan route.

I stick to one simple rule when playing notes on a piano: 1) some notes play before a note 2) some notes play at the same time with a note 3) some notes play after a note Once you are clear which is which it is just practice and practice and practice with the fingering..

So, I've read the description, and here's what I think: this is a masterpiece. I love the ending, the lullaby-like theme is absolutely fabulous after all the energy of the central part. It's just... very hard, and I don't think I'll be able to play it (sigh) but I'll try!

For those wanting to learn the gist of the song, 0:00-1:45 is the way to go. Definitely one of the best arrangements I’ve seen. Very beautiful, but in it’s entirety, it’s a very complicated piece to play.

It would indeed take me SEVERAL hours to learn this version (currently learning a simpler one XD) but I think 1:46-2:12 is just MARVELOUS. Thank you! While arranging, I normally play it on the piano first. Often a few dozen bars at a time. Sometimes I tear up in the process, other times I go way over bored and it turns to something else completely. As for this arrangement, it was mostly in C# major, which is a total bummer because you can't do a hell lot with it, otherwise it's extremely difficult still for my level of transcription and pitch. But I look forward to hear from you to see if it's actually playable!

I got lost in thought when I heard this song. And in my thoughts were many things, from memories, to past history's... I never saw much, but I felt peace. I saw all I needed in my thoughts, but the more I listened, the more lost I became... I never knew I could become this lost in thought. And yet, I somehow felt a hidden presence telling me to continue, and yet... I didn't know that my thoughts would contain so much, my thoughts became memories, and those memories became etched to my mind. Memories that were long lost. Happiness, sadness, and many more emotions were within those endless memories... It was strange... As if I didn't enter myself, but was brought there by a hidden presence inside me...

This started out really awesome, it was one of the most faithful transcription. Then the second page happens, which is still awesome, and then I see the rest with awe as I contemplate my inferior piano skills, unable to even consider playing this. This is really masterfully done, but I'm not sure this is even playable... Also, in my opinion, Hitori Omou is a calm song that repose on its simple rhythm and great melody. I'm not sure the spirit is still there, you went all guns blazing.

Interesting insight, you're the first person to point that out and it is indeed true. I arranged this a little over a year ago with a lot of "passion". After the 3rd page, I literally just ran out of ideas, and with my still maturing arranging skills during that time, it was an easy tendency to go guns blazing and just started spamming more notes as the original song played with more harmony and blending of instruments. In a way, I was trying a little too hard but at the same time I wanted it to happen that way. But nevertheless, i've begun to *restrain* some of those passionate parts over my more recent arrangements to "control" how I develop the overall mood of the piece. The trick is possibly, to famillarize myself with more right-hand runs/patterns for a "softer" accompaniment and possibly more trial and error on an actual piano rather than a digital one (the sounds produced are vastly different) Lastly, Hitori Omou Can be calm, and it can be vividly passionate at the same time *cough Nohr version* But yea, I need more of these analytical comments, keep it coming : 3

I actually know about that one (I used to play it on piano and sing at the same time XD). I was planning on using that one until I came across your rendition and I think I prefer yours :D. I'm in no rush however. If you don't plan on making one I'll just use this one instead if you would allow me to do so. I probably won't get to covering this song in months. e.e If you do make an accompaniment than it's worth the wait!

Just played Fates again today and hearing Azura sing it doesn't feel quite right to me. Something was lacking. Then I realized it was because years ago, a certain piano cover became the default Lost in Thoughts All Alone to me. Listening to it again carefully today and again appericiating your talent as a composer/arranger. From a simple theme, you have developed complex and beautiful variations with different moods, as compelling as telling a story. Thank you for delivering such art to the world.

I would have to agree with you. I tried my best to control the pedaling after 30 + fail retakes. Because its a Virtual instrument, it doesn't exactly sync very nicely with the sustain pedal of my electric keyboard. You would have noticed that the playback missed a key at @4:25 while I was pressing on the pedal, hence the program "missed" a note in the proccess. Previously, I used philhrmonik's grand piano VST, but since the sampling is old, it had a very "hollow" midtone in each note. I guess certain VSTs are good for certain playbacks. This, (Pearl Concert Grand), is fantastic for soft toned phrases and has has rich voice sampling for the 3rd octave and higher. But it becomes increasingly imbalanced the moment dynamics hit ff (very loud) or higher because the bass note's samples are quite dated. Nevertheless, Thank you!

You're 50% right. All my videos are done by Sibelius's playback with pedaling. The only reason why I don't run music from Synthesia or some of the vids you see online where there's playback because there isn't pedaling from a physical pedal (or I have yet to discover it) Basically, when the playback occurs, I step on my keyboard's pedal while it plays. 80% of my transcribing time is actually played on the piano first, my timing is almost accurate, with the technical notes being harder, but when I like something I play, I notate it on sibelius, thats the other 10%. The rest of the 10% are fine tuning some notes through repeated playback over and over. Part of the reason why one of my transcriptions take about 3-4 weeks is because i'm extremely picky. I often cry to some of my own playing because that's the "soft spot", and I will notate those bars that I played. However, as I notate it on sibelius, some doesn't sound right from what i've played, so there's a little compromise by adding a little bit of technical notes here and there, like the original part you saw before the last chorus. TLDR; This isn't my playing, it's Sibelius's playback. I have a terrible habbit of "forgetting" what I've played literally after 5 minutes, hence why I can't perform. I improvise better than I memorize, hence why there are so many variations in my arrangements. The sound used is the Pearl Concert Grand (VST, google that up) My sheets are very messy and often have useless dynamics here and there, because I fine-tune the dynamics to sound a little more realistic. (the VSTs also have dynamic expressions to emulate a real piano) So if you have a cheap keyboard, they keyboard may sound bad, but you can buy VST sounds to make it sound better :) Hope that answers your question :)

Of course not, I would've broke my fingers :P I wrote this sheet based on my friend's technical ability. (This is a sibelius playback) If you dig right into the comments, there are some unplayable parts (about 2 measures unless you're a ninja pianist), but the rest should be good. And I have to agree, it's a huge mess LOL, i've improved since then with my recent uploads. (after getting grilled ) It's this thing with sibelius when you copy/paste a measure, it ends up duplicating those unwanted rests that are from a different sound layer. and it ends up as splotch on the sheet, takes too much time to remove.

Thanks a lot, in fact, i'm just halfway through Revelations now. While i'm glad certain characters like Lilith arn't being marked off, it still pains me each time you lose a character. In fact, since my 3ds charger's fuse is busted because (i'm in South America attending the olympics, voltage isnt written on the walls, pop.), i'm playing Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo: Hikari to Kage no Eiyū on my phone via an emulator. Surprisingly, the same themes where "losing a comrade hurts a lot" re-occurs, or rather, originated from the very first FE games. Strangely enough, this is so much harder. But, I still enjoy Fates. Hopefully, i'll get awakening soon, because there are a bunch of soundtracks that I might potentially transcribe.

Hi, first off, very nice work you did there, really appreciated! I basically listen to this song whenever I log on youtube, it's the most beautiful arrangement of this piece I've ever seen. I have a question though. I'm still a begginer piano player and some day I hope I could be able to perform this, but the question is: is it possible to be performed by one single person in its original version or some adjustments are needed? Thank you for your feedback. Maybe it is because I'm still too beginner to feel comfortable with some fast parts. I saw the Synthesia version of your song so I could visualize a little better how it would take form on the piano then I thought to myself "whoa, that sounds just a little impossible, I guess xD". Since I haven't found yet any video with someone playing it, I wasn't sure whether it was possible for people to play it or just a computer version. Even I'm not able to play my own pieces because I have no time to practice them, I find it more enjoyable to arrange then notate than to perform it myself. Though with each new upload, I hope to achieve even better harmonies between every note, and play-ability so it doesn't kill the pianist who attempts it.

This is so pretty... But so harrddd... How do you play the parts near the end? My hands aren't big enough. Has anyone done it successfully?

I have a friend that plays this technique with ease, so I arranged it base on his specs. Here's his channel : ru-vid.com/show-UCq6U--d3ILuch5Z8LFuynLw Regarding some *ahmm* insane notes, you can ignore most of the right hand's chromatic scales. Those were just added to enhance the playback and increase the dramatic parts while I was arranging. Main thing to note about this piece is the chords. On a side note, I am simplifying *by, alot* on my next piece. Which is why this one is taking some time.
