Indeed. Could've been a setup to another joke as well. When Stephen asked Hugh to relive making love the night before, I was half expecting the reply "I thought you didn't want any stiffness."
Another good one was Stephen’s response to Hugh saying “It’s not your fault. I’m rather tired” to which Stephen replied “We’ll try again later, if you like.” I love Stephen’s use of word play and double entendres.
You better look out for me baby, You better look right out of sight, You better look out for me baby, You better look right out of sight, Coz I'm going to have some fun now, I won't be back till late tonight, A fibbidy dim, a stibbidy domp, A hippity tam, a set of forks, My microwave your tumble dryer, A poppity pin, a pippity pop,
Stephen Fry had to consult a hypnotherapist to overcome his fear of singing in order to perform this sketch. He tells the full story on Richard Herring's podcast: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fvpb82-jw3c.html#t=1h11m14s
That is an awesome story. Would never have guessed that he was afraid of singing and thought that he was a professionell singer for quite some time. His singing in the sketch is brilliant.
Stephen was remarkably young and fit. I still do have a weakness for that tall sweeping frame of his, especially during the INSANE ending. Btw, loved the "between the legs" misunderstanding! *evil giggle*
Used to watch Saturday Night Live, and when it was on Fridays too. Lot of new talent started on that show... Harry Enfield, Julian Clarey. ..could do with something similar now, to get new faces up on stage. Most of it was brill.
Does anyone know what the piece actually is? It sounds a lot like Gottingen by Barbara and I can't find a way of searching "Chelper/Schelper's Bridal Nocturne" that shows anything. Just curious if the two are related.
@@birkbrene1972 Huh, looks like the question I was answering got deleted sometime in the last eleven years? Somebody asked "Why would anybody put a lock on piano keys?" I'm pretty sure I didn't just drop that random fact apropos of nothing. Anyways, thanks for bringing back memories of a simpler time.
...living together in perfect harmony Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord, why don't we? We all know that people are the same whereever you go There is good and bad in ev'ryone We learn to live, when we learn to give Each other what we need to survive, together aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive
I just LOVE this as a pianist myself. Stephen Fry clearly appears to know nothing about music at all as he doesn’t understand that’ ‘ A’ is a musical key , and what the heck has having a girlfriend and making love got to do with playing the piano ?
