In 2007, world-famous piano-maker Steinway & Sons and Danish audio-manufacturer Lyngdorf Audio teamed up to release the Model D Music System, which had the design goal to replicate the sound of a piano so well, an expert piano tuner wouldn't be able to fault it. When the Model D was released, not only did a new product enter the market, a long-term partnership emerged and a new, unique luxury hi-fi brand was born.
In this video, founder Peter Lyngdorf explains how the Steinway & Sons and Lyngdorf Audio partnership began, and product marketing director Rolland Hoffman explains the concepts behind its growing product range of luxury-focused complete music systems.

Beyond the lack of coloration from the lack of speaker box, there is also the openness, soundstage, etc advantages from dipole/open baffle.

@@MikeYoungeasytravel Well, I should add that it doesn't EVER mean we'll never have another Steinway-Lyngdorf video -- we plan to go back to Denmark regularly. In fact, we were just there at some other companies last week.

Wwaaaayyy out of my price range, but wow! Impressive looking (and I'm sure it is, impressive sounding) gear!! Maybe one day, if some generous soul drops three pallets of gold bullion at my doorstep. Till then!

I wonder if Danny from GR Research will get a pair of these and say that he can make them sound better. Moan about the Xover and then say I'll put "air cored inducters in and not have those horrible sandcast resistors in the sound path"? Oh and let's not forget the tube connectors and some no-res too!? 😂😂😂😂😂

I was thinking about making a video about Danny Richie and the way he tears apart other companies' products -- literally and with words -- and often trashes them. But has he ever created a GREAT speaker himself?

Looks can be deceiving and this is a good example of such case. While in principle, in a perfect room, this speaker system would most likely be able to reproduce the very best sound... there are NO perfect rooms. Every house and every room in each house will resonate in a different way. This is why (amongst other reason) vast majority of the speakers are designed in enclosures, to minimize the room's impact on the sound being projected. The key word being "projected." What happens after the pressure waves leave the membranes of the speakers is anyone's guess. The room size and shape, the floor, the ceiling, the construction of the walls, the furniture, the decorations, the carpet, the lights, and everything else in the room will difract the sound waves and make them unique to the room the speakers are in. No two rooms with the same speakers will ever sound the same. So... to summarize... this system is for those few of us who have the means not only to buy the gear, but to also design and dedicate a room to this setup. Eveyone else, just go to Best Buy.

Will any of the influencers report on the other beneficial advanced technologies that can easily benefit all levels of affordability tied with advanced performance even if those that have those technologies don't and won't engage in what many call the pay for play scheme?

@@soundstagenetwork do you think it is good business practice amongst other issues or practices for ANY show promoter of the industries to receive and accept full payment from an exhibitor only to remove that exhibitor in the last days before any show and even remove that exhibitor from a show map and a show website even when that exhibitor was going to show beneficial breakthrough technologies that would easily outperform ultra high end technologies for mere fractions? Do you think manufacturers colluding with show promoters and influencers to steer outcomes of who gets and who does not get media coverage to unduly influence sales is appropriate? Do you think CENSORSHIP of comments on ANY influencers channels carries receipts? Do You agree with other influencers banning viewing of comments by the public regarding advanced technologies so that those comments are in their entirety or partially obscured in some form or fashion from public view negating a full view of what's commercially possible that could benefit the public at large? What are your thoughts on 'PAY FOR PLAY WITHIN THE INDUSTRIES? " What do you think are fair and reasonable outcomes for those in the industries that engage in UNFAIR PRACTICES?
