This man didn't have to give his life to end slavery. He wasn't a slave himself. But still, he was ready to die to save other people. He saw injustice and he knew he had to do something. And there's nothing I can respect more than that. Rest in f*cking Power, John Brown.
"Here before God, in the presence of these witnesses, I consecrate my life to the destruction of slavery." "I have no doubt that our seeming disaster will ultimately result in the most glorious success. I have been whipped, but I am sure I can recover all the lost capital by only hanging a few moments by the neck." -- John Brown
" His zeal in the cause of freedom was infinitely superior to mine. Mine was as the taper light, his was as the burning sun. Mine was bounded by time. His stretched away to the silent shores of eternity. I could speak for the slave; John Brown could fight for the slave. I could live for the slave; John Brown could die for the slave. " -Frederick Douglass on John Brown, May 30, 1881
Sad thing, is that among those condfederate monuments there are only few of a man, who lost his son and his own life in the struggle to abolish slavery.
In elementary school, my class took a trip to Harpers Ferry and we were taught "history". The way they described it was that John Brown raided and terrorized the citizens of harpers ferry and the might Army came and killed him. It was like John Brown was the terrorist in that situation. I went back years later and learned what he actually did. I love John Brown
Great work! The only way it could be better is if it had the last verse, which I think fits a socialist context to a T: “Now soldiers all of freedom, strike, while strike you may, A death blow to oppression, for a better time and way, For the dawn of old John Brown has brightened into day, And his soul goes marching on!”

@@LukyPukyBear Incorrect. Obama and Biden built I.C.E. as a 72 hour detention center, where children WOULD BE WITH THEIR GOD DAMN PARENTS. And after 24 hours - 72 hours, the immigrant would be given a trial. Now Trump just uses them to separate kids from their parents and remove women's uteruses.
If anyone is interested, there is an alternate history novel where John Brown, in cooperation with Harriet Tubman, succeeds at Harper's Ferry. It's called "Fire on the Mountain" by Terry Bisson. Give it a read if you have a chance!
Not gonna lie, I could join a labor union and have to help build the Egyptian pyramids all over again, but if music like this was the one thing we had, then I would be perfectly fine with it.
Hey I really love your cover of both songs ! I wanted to ask you a favor I live in France and I'm currently in quarantine with COVID and I don't have much to do in order to pass time. So I started a documentary project explaining the root causes of the American civil war. See In France the narrative about the conflict is very backward. Pretty much all the sources you can find are basically the Lost Cause of the Confederacy, explaining that the conflict had nothing to do with slavery, that it was because of states rights, tarifs etc... Even on Wikipedia where most people get their sources, this narrative is present. The KKK page even talks about the clan in a positive light... My idea was to make a 20 minute long documentary in french explaining the true causes of the conflict. Therefore I wanted to use your music to illustrate a segment about John Brown and Bleeding Kansas. Of course you would be credited for your work, but to be honest I don't expect the video to be a massive hit and I doubt I'd be able to monetize it so I can't really compensate you. I know it takes a lot of investment and money to make content like yours so I would completely understand if you were not okay with that. It's just that I think it's good cause and the topic is dear to my heart, and so is your music. Anyways, whatever your answer is, keep up the good work with those amazing songs and covers! Cheers!

I'm gonna ask you a question, I have recently composed a rewrite of John Brown's Body/The Battle Hymn of the Republic, I titled it "The Long March of the People's Republic" if you would like me to post it here, for you to pursue, I'm a poet, if you need anything, I've been writing for over fifteen years now; plenty of Left works.

@@MonsieurJack95 My apologies for its length, you may modify as you wish. Again, if you need other things, original Left poetic works, I've got that in spades, though I'm not much of a song writer, though, that may allow you some musical creative liberty in interpretation; Art being a collaborative effort anyway.
This sounded really good, i think something you could do at the end to kinda weave them together could be "solidarity and glory, for the union and john brown." Either way super cool.
It’s songs like this that give me hope. It reminds me that not all riots are bad ones. I guess it really depends on wether the cause is to end a conflict, or to start a new one.
4:19 Greater than the might of- what??? Song goes "greater than the might of atoms" I'm hearing "greater than the might of hobbits" or is that "comets"? the latter kinda works, I guess.
