If Jayden Daniels is selected by the Washington Commanders, The Patriots are more likely to trade down. There's the Jerod Mayo-Kevin O'Connell connection to consider. Both were drafted by the Patriots in 2008. I also look at the Patriots who need offensive tackle. If the Vikings hypothetically offer both 1st rounders, the Patriots could possibly address both QB and OT. It'll be interesting. I'm excited for this year's draft.

That's been my argument for the vikings, they could stick at 11 and 23 and address their QB position and their DL or CB positions. I just dont know if any of the top guys are really that much more special than Penix at 11 aside from the fact they are 2 years younger. If a team needs a guy to start right away like the Pats do, Penix or nix may not be a bad person to build around. I really think JJ and Maye, will require sitting to reach their full potential.

i dont think any player in this draft is worth 3 1st round picks + some lower round fluff...esp with how bad NE and Wash are...the opportunity cost is so bloody high...2 extra 1st round picks is how you turn a franchise around...that is how dallas created a dynasty...

The issue is there are 6 potential great QBs in the draft, with 5 being available to teams outside the top 3 since we know caleb is going to the bears. While teams would like to trade up, there is also potential in Penix and Nix to be very good as well. The younger guys at the top are somewhat more attractive, but nix and penix are probably going to be more start ready for teams that need a guy to play week 1. Vikings may want to trade up, but their GM is a money ball guy and is likely not going to get too crazy to trade up 1 or 2 extra spots with the pats vs trading with the chargers or cardinals and taking whose there or even sticking at 11

Of course the Vikings have always been in the mix. That's why they traded with Houston to acquire an extra 1st this year. They didn't do all that just to sit at 11 and draft Bix or Penix. It's gonna cost them another 1st next year though but they'll do it. It will probably be with the Patriots

As a born and raised Vikings fan… got I hope we don’t mortgage everything for #3. We are talking about a team that took Christian Ponder in the top 15 (I think 12th if I remember correctly). And sure the third best QB this year could be a good pick… but at best no matter who it is it’s a 50/50 pick at best in the long run. So NOOOO don’t give up 3 (or more) #1 picks for a 50/50 flyer!!! There will still be a QB there at 11! Or he’ll even at 23! Or even second day!

Drafting a QB is great, but you also have to factor in the environment. If you dont have enough pieces around for a young QB, then starting them right away could lead to hurting their confidence, which may not recover. So in general thats why having a bridge is nice, so that guy takes the sacks and throws to the meh recievers, while the young guy develops. Then next years draft they pick up a few WRs and they should be good to go. I think the Pats should stick at 3, and grab a QB, but I think it could be risky to start him right away when the team looks so meh and I dont know if there is much for the rookie to elevate.
