In this mechabellum replay analysis we are taking a loot at replay submitted by KotBR. It's 1900mmr vs 1350mmr. So quite a big skillcap. In the video we go over why some other free unit choices are better than others and talk about how to transition easily into a late game composition that actually wins games.

My warfactory video [ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hll61dyI6ko.html ] is highly relevant to this replay analysis

I got up to 1550 mmr spamming forts pretty much every game before everyone figured it out. The only problem with trying to go one strategy in this game though is you cant adapt when things go wrong

I think it's a very good way of learning the game when you do only one strategy. You will start to learn what the enemy needs to have for it to be good so when you learn more playstyle you can easily switch around and you will start seeing a lot of openings for the strategies you have practiced a lot

@SurreyEZ that makes since for sure I just felt that I wasn't countering the comp then finishing with warfactories I was trying to use warfactories to counter the comp

What specialisations did you use? And what were opponents doing to counter the forts?

@@nfc14g The main way people have countered fort is shielded fangs with lots of melting points. I don't remember all my games since I took a month break after I took a massive loss streak.

Thanks for featuring the replay! I appreciate the critiques of my choices. I definitely made some bad calls throughout the game, but I wasn't sure what the right ones would have been, so it's good to get that perspective. Arkidin is in the top 100 ranked players on the MMR leaderboard, so I'm not surprised that my victory was dependent on him making some mistakes towards the end. Again, thanks for the analysis. I definitely still have a lot to learn!

no prob! You played it pretty well. The loss of tempo from the unit drop could have been prevented with a different choice and the late game looked good. It's just that the wf is kinda in an OP state that i think every game revolves around it. When the factory will be nerfed strategies like this one will be very strong again.

Is it possible to counter enemy war factories without going into your own?
@SurreyEZ
@SurreyEZ 3 месяца назад
yes with scorpions or melting points, or sometimes with some air units. But the factory is so much better than them so you have to have a lot better board for it to work

As a 900 mmr player I thought war factory was just for anti missile tech

Yea it has a much wider use. If you setup it correctly it's pretty much an unstoppable unit. But if you build it a little bit too early you lose your economy really quickly so it's not that easy always to find the correct turn to build them.

Would really love a quick guide on common builds and why certain units work well together/common responses to popular strategies; another cool video would be unit placement and how to creat interested attack angles.

I notice that high level players, when placing a unit, move it around to check out the 'agro arrows'. What are they looking for? Also, any chance you can do an in-depth video on selling units?
@SurreyEZ
@SurreyEZ 3 месяца назад
Well, usually if the enemy has for example 2 fangs and you place a mustang or a storm, you want to split your pack so it will shoot both the enemy fangs to counter both positions. Easy to see with the arrows where they are going. Also when looking at the battlefield you often want to manipulate where you will pull enemy units so you can control what unit goes where. So you place units and check if the enemy guys are going to them with the arrows and adjust the position accordingly. I wouldn't know how to explain selling the units. Usually its just sell bad units and replace them with good ones. Lots of game knowledge required to know which units are bad in a given situation or which units are too weak to include in your late game composition.
