I really appreciate when the boss demo’s his guitars. He plays chords AND riffs, and does not emphasize on any which one. He might not be the best player of the shop, but he is definitely the most authentic.

You truly get to hear all aspects of the guitar, as well as what the amp sounds like.

I have heard a LOT of demos from these guys; but the back pickup on this Stratocaster, matched to this Tremolux, could be THE best sound I have heard from these guys ... Spectacular! All the other positions are real fine, as well!

Love your demos, man. Simple and straight to the point. Good for showing the gear's prowess. The beggining reminded me of the chord progression we hear in the intro of some of your videos. Cool pieces, both of them. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Beautiful Strat

I have had my 62 strat, serial 7..... since 1965. Since that time it has been resprayed and refretted also 3 times. Two of the pickups have been hand rewound identically to the originals and it sounds better than any other largely unmodified strat I have ever heard. Everything else on the guitar is original -pots, selector, bridge, springs, slab neck and Klusons. Obviously the guitar is not a collectors item but it is one where the major parts are largely original. I see that the one you have is classified as a players guitar, although any vintage guitar which has been worked hard is likely to have some replacement parts and certainly to have been refretted Over here in the Uk, there seem to be 3 categories of vintage guitar -players, collectors and some right in the middle going at the moment for £12-14 or 15,000 pounds, about $15,000 to $18,000. So I am wondering how players guitars and collectors are categorised in terms of value. I will never sell it but it will go to my son eventually and he might need to.

Killer looking Strat. Something about a rosewood fretboard Strat in an olympic white body finish that just does it for me. Same goes for Teles.

Had the ‘61 version of that amp! Still miss it 😿 Traded it for a 1st class bass, and bass rig. Back to playing mostly guitar these days and a Strat! Oh, well? Don’t have enough scratch to recreate If you Love something, let it go...

what is the differences in the Tremolux and the Vibrolux amps?
@PhilGa
@PhilGa Год назад
If you compare a blackface Tremolux to a Vibrolux (non reverb), they are basically the same amp in different format. Probably the main reason why the Tremolux was discontinued in 1966. It was kind of an odd number.

I have one question and correct me if I get this wrong but who and heck would re-finish a guitar unless this is a parts guitar ......HUMMMMMMM ,just wondering
@anthonyc1883
@anthonyc1883 4 года назад
Consider that the guitar might have been in a non-original finish when the man acquired it. If it had already been screwed up, then doing a first-class Olympic White refin can only improve things at that point.

I wasn’t too impressed by the sound....Maybe it’s because I’ve just watched the other 60s 3 tone burst you guys just featured. 🤔 this strat lacks a bit of true character with all the things done to it.

No way man! I think these "player's grade" guitars have way more character. Think of it like girls... we've all dated the girl that was a bit out of our league and we were always afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing, so you play it conservative. That's a "collector's grade". A player's grade is like the girl next door you've been friends with for years and one summer you just take it to the next level. You know all her boundaries and you can just be yourself with her. She may not be as beautiful as the collector's grade, but she'll go fishing with you and hang out with your buddies, and she can take a joke so you don't have to worry about offending her. She drinks, she cusses, and she cleans up for dinner with your parents..... Maybe it's just me, but gimme a "player's grade" any day. Cheers mate.

The vintage fenders (mostly 60's and 50's) have so much balls. That's what seems to separate them between modern guitars to me.
@Tonetwisters
@Tonetwisters 3 года назад
They sound better when the wood has had time to age and when the pickups have had a lot of electricity run through them.

Why on earth would anyone do the amount of work to, and refinish a 64/65 strat? Ruined it for me and took 15k off the value of it.
@anthonyc1883
@anthonyc1883 4 года назад
Because maybe the guy who did the 2011 refin was working with a guitar that had already been compromised. Who knows (besides him) what level of originality it was in when he acquired it. Maybe it had already been stripped years before.

Who refins a 60's Fender AFTER 1979??? Nevermind in 2011? Terrible call imho.
@anthonyc1883
@anthonyc1883 4 года назад
Perhaps the Olympic White refin in 2011 was done on an already compromised guitar, not necessarily on the original finish. Maybe someone over the years had stripped the original and done a poor job. Then in 2011, along comes the guy Jay credited with the refin who pretty much made it look great again.
