"Pick of the Day" - 2003 Gibson Custom Shop R9 and 2013 Mesa Boogie Mark V

Today we've got another piece out of the collection of 'Music Machine' Les Pauls with wood hand selected by Dave Carpenter - a beautiful 2003 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul R9 with a wonderful Brazilian Rosewood fretboard! This one has a uniquely dark sunburst over perfect flamed top, and has an outstanding sound with classic PAF tones. This one has all the goodies in the original case and is just a top-notch instrument! Today we have Karl plugging this into a killer 2013 Mesa Boogie Mark V combo, which is an incredibly versatile amp that can be switched between 90/45/10w settings, easily re-biased between different power tubes, with 3 distinct channels, a 5-band master eq, reverb, and all the major settings accessible through the footswitch!

This is the right way to demo this amp. Every body knows a Mesa will chug & shred with the best. It’s all the other amazing clean, edge-of-breakup tones that sometimes get missed.

Am I wrong to say that this may be The Best combination of a 59 Les Paul and Amp! I mean, it could be any 59 (re issue or original) This amp is Awesome! 👍🇦🇺

I think this is the one with the Madagascar rosewood fretboard that was all of LP forums... I tell you, the thing sounds insanely good. The BODY wood of this guitar makes it sound sick.

Man that tone at 8:00 made me sit up 🔥🔥🔥. Somehow $6,700 seems like a fair price for that guitar….it’s drop dead gorgeous and sound even better.

That’s one of the nicest LP’s I’ve ever seen. Damn. Love the white MOP inlays. Usually go for the ebony fretboard but the Brazilian is pretty bitchin not gonna lie.

That's Madagascar Rosewood NOT Brazilian. Doesn't look like Brazilian and is NOT a Brazilian confirmed serial number simply because it is NOT Brazilian.
