normally for carburetor i use the old formula cubic inches times redline RPM divided by 3456 and that give me the size of a double pumper. so i may build a 331 stroker windsor so 331 time 6500 redline RPM divided by 3456 equals 622...so 650 or even a 600 would work but a 600 would be good on a light car like mine with a hot street 302 but maybe a little short on a 331 a vacuum secondary is more forgiving being too big i bet if that customer had a 750 vacuum secondary he probably would have been ok most people not only dont need 750/850/950/1000s but a lot of people like that dude dont even need mechanical secondaries. they dont have no stall behind and freeway gears and low compression and stock timing. thats gonna be a nightmare to tune and he found out that youd have to jack around with it too much to tune it. he did the right thing and so did you by putting back where it was and selling it to someone who really need a 750 mechanical secondary
