I want to make a comparison of euro cylinder models that are commonly used here in Germany. To get a fair view I use only new locks to explore their properties - mainly focused on picking. Here you see a WILKA 5 pin euro lock (20 EUR) with the following properties:
- Keyway like a Yale Y1 but narrower
- great bitting, so a deep hook is needed to get in the holes of the keyway
- nice steel pins (spools at #3, #4, all key pins tapered and serrated at #1, #2, #4)
WILKA is a German lock manufacturer, founded in 1865 by Wilhelm Karrenberg and is still family owned.

Thanks for the continuation of the euro cylinder series, this Wilka is an example of a good lock at a low price point. If they are commonly used, so much the better. The Y1 keyway is common here and it's wide, wide open. This is smaller, thinner. On a Y1 you can either use the holes or hop onto the right hand ledge to pick around instead of through the warding. This won't let you do that, it's too narrow even with a euro thickness hook. Thanks for the video, keep up the good work.

+Shira Assel Thank you for the nice words. Really appreciate that feedback. Although it's possible to go in the holes it slows you down and requires more accurate operations. Or maybe I just need to get used to it ;-)

Another great picking with difficult keyway: well done! I like your explanation of the origin of brands. ;)

a great picking job, that look like a hard one, I like the end how you put the key on top of the pins . take care.

+Rusty Nail I sometimes forget to populate the plug in the video to verify the effectiveness of the drivers. Then I make a picture at the end. You also see nicely the 6th cut not associated with a stack. Thank you for the kind words.

very nice exploration Michael! loving the gutting music, well groovy ;D were both sides of the lock 5 pin? have seen the anti drill bars missing and 5 pin on the inside sometimes and the other side, the outside of the lock is fully populated, am just curious? nice also to see why you need the hook to reach up into the individual pin holes too, the light really illustrated that well. thank you mate, very enjoyable as always!

+crispey bear Thank you. Happy that you enjoyed it. Yes both cylinders are the same (no drill protection, only 5 pins). Cheers my friend.

Good luck with you 6 pinner. Try progressive pinning (start with maybe 4 pins and increase the count slowly after getting used to picking it). I've picked 6 and 7 pinners but with not so paracentric keyways.
