The beans that we planted towards the end of last Summer have now ripened.
The mature beans are ready to be picked, so I start off collecting pods at the bottom of the plants where the mature beans are.
I pick a cullender full of beans and then head up to the kitchen to shell them.
Broad beans do not need to be blanched before freezing them, so the freshly shelled beans go into a ziplock bag which goes straight into the freezer.
Some people shell the individual beans before eating or freezing them.
