Pears do not ripen on the tree. There is a process to know when to pick and how to ripen. We are picking and a grinning this morning in the sweltering heat but relief is coming. #pears #pickingpears #ripeningpears
Pear leather is amazing. It's my favorite to make. I don't peel the pears, just core and process in blender until they are smooth. Put in silicone trays in dehydrator and dehydrate until they are dry. Store in mason jars.
I remember years ago my best friend in Fla. had a hurricane coming at them. Called her and she was canning pears. She said they would become missiles left on the tree
That is my next tree t get, a pear. We grew up with pears, but those things were 😝Hard as a rock, and you had to add a boat load of sugar to be able to eat them. I'm going to wait for the late fall to find one. Let it settle in over the winter.
My elderly Mom lived with me her last 7yrs.I had some fake pears sitting on my table as decoration. Mama had one sitting on her bedside table. She said I was wondering why that pear wouldn’t ripen lol
We make pear, apple butter, and with all the scraps I have made pear jelly for the first time last year and I loved it and I actually still have scraps in my freezer to make more but it’s just too hot
Independence Day is our least favorite time of year. Our family dog is absolutely terrified of the sounds, and we cannot comfort him. So, we put him in the small room with a fan running and music on. We can’t touch him or he will pee all over the place. He’s two years old and we’ve never, ever hit our animals. Go figure……
What about pear cider vinegar with the pears that had blossom end rot if you ripen them for a couple of days in their own bag? I made apple cider vinegar with the apple cores and scraps last year - then fed the fermented remainders to the chickens once I strained them off. Hope you and the pups had the best July 4th ever!
