I too paid the crazy upcharge for the Black Bowtie package on my wife's Tahoe Premier. First thing I noticed when I got behind that wheel to drive it was the GOLD bowtie on the steering wheel. They should rename the package to the MOSTLY Black Bowtie package. For that amount of money it still irritates me every time I see it. Very nice truck, can't wait to see it with some proper all terrain tires on it.
I agree I thought I would get the black bowtie on the front grill, steering wheel, and wheels but yea its just a plastic part for $100 or whatever it cost.
And this is why after owning a Dodge, Ford, GMC. and a Silverado, when I retired and NEED reliability for long road trips. I went out and got a 2021 Tundra old school V8. I did not want to be 2000 miles away from home worrying if my $70,000 lap top would start or leave me stranded. I took your advice after watching your Labrador trip. Let me tell you there is no better piece of mind knowing the Tundra will get me home. I have a 1794 TRD off Road it has enough bells and whistles for me. And what it lacks in tec I always have my i phone and I pad with me.
JB Reviews out of UT he runs a ball with his fifth wheel setup and boy does that save a ton of room and easy to take the ball out when not in use. The traditional setup you have all that equipment for the fifth wheel in the bed and its not easy to remove.
My 2024 Silverado 3500 SRW had a steering fluid leak and oil leak with less than 500 miles. Had to get a new steering gear box and transmission oil cooler. Took 3 months to get the parts. I’m now at 3k miles with no further issues. I recommend you look for oil drips right above your blue oil filter. The oil cooler leak is fairly common.
Hey, Howard, you're a man after my heart absolutely loved the truck and I'm a big Chevy fan. God bless your new truck. I hope you have many trouble free miles L0L
Great to see someone from the GTA on RU-vid. Seeing the truck not start and you recorded it, was great! Dang computers! The old on and off. Works most of the time luckily it did this time.
Totally agree. Love the colum shifter on my 2024 2500HD. I also replaced my old Suburban but I bought a used 2018 Suburban with the column shifter rather than a 2024 Suburban just because I absolutely hate the buttons (I’ve had rentals with the buttons so I actually knew how much they suck). Anyhow. I’m waiting for the 2025s or 2026s to come out with the new shifter back on the column. It’s still all electronic but at least it’ll be on the column where it’s supposed to be.
Congrats, it’s a beautiful vehicle. I love mine. I had a computer code go off when it was brand new. Turned out to be a false alarm, and a five minute fix. Quality wise, I really have not found anything that has caught My eye as being defective, which in My case, has probably been a first when buying a new vehicle. Have fun!
My 2024 HD also died and you guys saved me! October 2023 build LT with Duramax and higher option level did the EXACT same no-start "whir-whir-whir" starter bit with a dash message about an emissions system fault. Just around 450 miles on the odometer and the thing died, right as I had to move trailers in the dark before weather came in. Disconnected the passenger side battery harness (positive terminal only that has about 6 different "trickle" connectors off of it) Waited 15 mins, then it fired right up first try. THANK YOU! My truck has done about 80% short trips and really needs a road trip to break in as yet. But something is definitely rotten in Flint on the computer handling the early break-in at least. To the GM team writing the code, there is a corner-case early life of unit BUG here guys! FWIW, the first thing the truck asked me to do was completely LOWER then RAISE my driver side window. It seems the engine starting code was confused about the status of the driver window that was about an inch open at the time of the issue. GO, ANALYZE, FIX IT!
We have 6 2022 and up gmc 2500 and Chevrolet 3500 trucks at work, we have had gauge clusters fail, transmission failures, active front grill shutter failure. Hope your truck is better, wish you the best of luck. I look forward to the series.
First congratulations brother 👏🏽... beautiful truck 👌🏽... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Truck King family 🙏🏽.. keep the the great work for 2024
This is a small world. A guy I retired with at the fire dept, his son was one of the people in the Flint plant that ran the dyno on your truck as it was being built. He didn't want to be on camera when you guys were in there filming. I just found this out last week and his dad did not know that I followed your channel after I had brought it up because he drives the same exact truck as what you now own when we had our retirement luncheon last week. Small world...
Congrats on the truck. I took delivery of mine (3500 HD Crew Standard Box) a few months ago and have about 3500 miles on it so far. The power is good, but I actually preferred the power delivery of my 2017 better - it was a little more raw and snappy. I love most everything about the new truck, except a few nitpicky things, like the TOW/HAUL switch being placed low left of the steering wheel. IMO, it should be right next to the Exhaust Brake switch. Also, the Infotainment HOME button is placed such that it is not in view when the shift lever is in gear, so you have to look or feel for it. Otherwise, so far so good - I'll be loading my camper on and coupling the cargo trailer on this weekend and we'll see how it goes!
“Have you tried rebooting your computer?” 😅 Congrats on your new Chevy!! If your fuel tank is too small you can always look for aftermarket tanks like at Titan. Good luck!
The new Chevy HD’s are really nice looking. It’s also a treat to see a vehicle that’s not some shade of charcoal, silver, white, or black. Seems like red, green, and blue are more rare than in the past.
I just turned over 10k on my 24' 3500 HC Duramax Midnight. Its been problem free so far and tows very well. My biggest complains about are all nit-picky, but noteworthy after having come from many Ram trucks over the last 20 years. No adjustable pedals, tach and speedometer are reversed, no turbo gauge, no gear indicator, no DPF indicator, no turning foglights, lack of rear floor storage, sound systems isn't as good as the 17 speak HK system and the steering wheel controls seem to be opposite of every other vehicle I've driven, meaning cruise control is normally on the right, radio on the left. The chevy is reversed.
Its very true, but I will tell you, very few people will know how to do this as simple as it is or know too. I totally get what the engineer says its a laptop on 4 wheels, because basically it is when everything is controlled by a computer, electronic sensor. My problem is the amount of money spent on these trucks people are going to be furious about having to do anything under the hood. Not that it happens often because I'm sure it doesn't but when it does, VERY unhappy people. So, I have a 2023 Silverado Trail Boss Custom and I cant be more happy about how it feels and drives. Never owned a Chevy, but its a really good sound truck so far even for a less optioned truck.
Beautiful truck! Congrats! Are you still going to use your Curt Crosswing hitch to tow your5er? I think it will work great with the 3500. I think your 2500 was the problem. I have a Ram 3500 with factory air bags and the Crosswing hitch. It feels great to me. However, it is the only one I've ever had so I can't compare. You will have to let us know how the Chevy exhaust brake works compared to your ram. Congrats again on your awesome new truck!!
We had the exact same no start issue with our 2024 3500HD Duramax. We’d driven it 30 minutes earlier we came out and it turned over but wouldn’t start.
With the money we put out to day, one shouldn't have to miss with the truck for a good 4 to 5 years, there is to much crap in the vehicles today, there not worth the money, lets keep the old ones going.
@derek-64 i believe he said in the presale recap video on the ram where he said he'd be buying this chevy he said he planned on 3 years or so before moving on. Make content for the chanel etc.
@Jolly… Per your logic, do you think the brand spanking new loaner at the factory was treated badly in its 1-month or so lifetime and that’s why it didn’t start until a computer reboot? 😂
I had something similiar with my truck. I had ordered a truck with high clearance steps and a hard rolling cover but the dealer was able to install those on a near identical truck that they had in the lot saving me months of wait.
This is a nice truck. I'm personally not a fan of the look of the front end, but they have made them look better than the older models. I don't need a heavy duty truck and have a Chevy 1/2 ton with the 6 1/2 foot bed. I do like the longer bed especially over the short 5 1/2 foot model. Good luck with your new truck. Definitely made a good choice for pulling your 5th wheel camper.
Picked up my truck last week. Love it so far…ONLY thing I wonder about is the amount of brake pedal travel it has…goes kinda far down till it actually does anything.
Floor mat, I had washed my floor mat and upon reinstalling it had pushed the pedel down. This caused the truck to turn over, but not start. Something else to check.
‘24 GMC 2500HD Ultimate D-Max…occasionally have the crank, no start. Been stranded a few times. After sitting overnight it will start. Dealer (Anchorage, AK) says they are not aware of a fix. This needs to be addressed!
I took delivery of my new 2024 3500 srw duramax a month ago and absolutely love it. It actually rides better than my 2021 2500 duramax did. When I ordered it back in September the puck hitch system was constrained. I told dealer to just have a B&W gooseball hitch installed when it came in. No problem. I am looking forward to pulling my 5th wheel this spring with it and comparing it to the 2500 I used to pull it with. Really nice truck you have there.
My 2019 WT with 15k miles towing threw a bunch of codes, did the service 4 wheel drive and many more items then went into limp mode. 2 weeks later waiting for a Chevy dealership out of state to look at it they returned it to me with “no problem found” . Tried to charge me $499 tech inspection fee even though it was still in warranty. Once I got it home, traded it in for another brand. As simple as I thought that truck was I was going to try something different. Still bought once of the lower trim levels as I don’t need or want more crap to fail or eat into the pocket book or payload. We don’t own our vehicles, they own us! 🤨
Hi Truck king .Gm and ford customers are saying issues with the 10 speed tranmission are you a fan of the 10 speed tranmission .what your oppion of it .Ty.
If they're still wax dipping their frames, I'd pay attention to that. It flakes off ridiculously easily. I've even seen examples of brand new GM trucks with rust already forming underneath the coating, perhaps from moisture getting trapped before being dipped, idk. My 2016 Silverado 1500 has been Krowned since new yet still developed rust on the frame in the wheel well areas. Huge advantage to Ford and Ram's ecoating with our climate. I'm not sure how well oil based undercoatings adhere to the wax coating, either. I've seen an awful lot of late model GM trucks with really ugly frame rott.
I bought a new Custom 5.3 V8 Trail Boss. It did not come with rear wheel well inserts so I will pick some up at the dealership I suppose. Overall I like the truck a lot except the monthly payment. I can’t understand why anyone would get a 3500 series unless having a big trailering need.
How many miles do you need to put on that new engine before towing?? Looking at a new diesel Chevy 3500HD as well and really have enjoyed watching ur build. Thank you for the great videos!!
Nice truck hopefully your happy with the purchase for years to come along with good reliability and yay the laptop comment I’ve dealt with too when the software in my truck crashed after a large over the air update failed to install even though mechanical my truck is sound it took the dealership almost a week of just software updates/install to get it working correctly again, definitely the downside of fancier tech nowadays the greater the risk of the software having bugs/glitches.
What dealer in Oshawa did you pick it up from? doesn't look like any from the area (Mills, Ontario Motor sales, Nurse, Gus brown). Also why did you only get the LTZ and not the high country.
I've been chomping at the bit since watching this and the factory tour. Trading in my 2022 DRW LTZ for 3500 Z71 LTZ Sport, and the vin starts with "2". Cool, Eh!
Great looking truck! Quite the embarrassment about the loaner but that's just modern vehicles for ya. Cant wait for reviews and updates on this one, and how you like it versus the Ram.
