Congrats dude! I've been loving mine, it's great to see more and more people getting into them especially folks that will do them justice like you and Tommy. He's such a good character and one of the most important members of Adams team. Given the track record of Adams employee's that start their own channel, I'd hope he doesn't ever start one.
In New Zealand we have 91 , 95 , 98 available and e85 at some particular pumps. Here we would generally run something like this on 98 unless it's modified to the point that it's nesssary to step up
The issue with the fuel is the they generally run 98 RON fuel in Japan which is the Japanese version of premium unleaded, it’s also what most tuner cars run in Australia. 93-95 won’t cut it if it was tuned as a weekend track warrior in japan.
Fuel in Japan is typically 100 octane, and most sports cars specifically required High Octane so even if there were some cars that could run on lower octane fuel from factory, you would be expecting to run high octane in your stock Skyline. As for tuning, they're going to be using 100 usually. You can see on your gas cap if it still has the sticker from factory, it'll say ハイオク (Hai Oku) for high octane. Here in Aus we have 98 pump and you can get away with a stock car on 98, but you'll get detonation on 93. I think it's to do with it ending up being a leaner mixture, more air per combustible fuel molecules, so it'll run hotter and pre-ignite/detonate.
Back in the day the common hks garage setup like this will be 264’s , nismo in tank pump 720cc injectors T04S and fcon Don’t lean on the tune hard as the snap onto boost with that turbo will eat the bearings as we did with so many big single cars 15 years ago when we played with GTR’s here in New Zealand Japan hi octane pump fuel is about the same as C12 fuel for detonation. Be careful - the R34 trans has a weak input shaft.
NZ HAS 91 0CT 95 AND 98 OCT AT THE PUMP ,jdm imports never blow up on our fuel .however 20 years thrashing and they throw a rod .jdm have been our go to 32s silvias etc since early 90s its interesting to see them finaly reach us markets weve had them 20 years already

12:55 speaking about octane ratings, europe and japan uses RON and US uses AKI. 98 RON / 93.5 AKI But japan high octane could be anything over 96 RON / 91.6 AKI so it could be 100 RON / 95.5 AKI. So that could explain the difference if its tuned for 95.5 AKI and you fuel it up with 93 AKI 🙃
