Rode a 91 gmc Wayne 5 speed in elementary school; that replaced an 82 Chevy Wayne school bus. Always loved these manual transmission busses. As I moved into middle school the buses were replaced by bluebird gmc automatics and since then the district has only bought 6 busses that weren’t blue bird 3 Thomas’s in the mid 2000’s and 3 ice’s in 2018 but went back to blue bird.
1991 was the last year for those generation Chevrolet & GMC buses. 1985 was the first year for them because when the rest of the models in the lineup were redesigned in 1973, the buses were the only models that stayed unchanged & they were produced up through 1984.
Great video and the only comment I have is that I wish you could have left in the complete stop at the light, so we could hear the bus search forward when the light turns green. I wanted to hear that just so I know if first gear has a whine, or not. Otherwise, glad you finally had the time to post and by all means, keep them coming.
Virginia put the warning light controls in the center as well (or at least my county did). Thomas, Blue Bird, Carpenter all had a different style for those. That was of course after they started ordering busses with ambers. There were still lots of early-mid 80s busses running when I was in elementary school that only had reds, activated in advance of a stop by pulling the door handle slightly forward.
Hey. I noticed that you still need to work on updating your website. I had slowed down on sending you emails because I was worried if I sent you one email right after another more like 5 minutes apart, I could be facing charges of harassment, and that would never do. The reason why I suggested expanding to Kirkwood, MO is so that it would be even more centrally located than Chicago, Illinois.
So many schools busses do you have in a collection and are you going to do a new update on your school busses at the your place 🤔 just asking my friend
Does it have a 4 speed or 5 speed ? If it's a 4 speed, a swap over to a 5 speed will give you little more speed, and maybe a few more mpg on the fuel usage.
Hello, my name is Scott. I am a Yooper from near your area. I recently bought a 1989 B600, with the KMF07 engine, it's a bluebird body, all hydraulic brakes, with a functional electric lift on the side. I want to sell the lift, and I want to know as much about the engine as I possibly can. Her name is Royal Fortune, and she is going to be my home for the foreseeable future. Any suggestions and information will be very very highly appreciated, it's not like I can find a haynes repair manual for the lovely lady.
You're bus is based on an F series medium duty truck chassis. You can find repair manuals that cover various areas of it, as far as mechanics go. I have acquired some to help us with our fleet. Hope that helps
