This therapist really came for their lives! We love to see it

This whole episode is great, but my favourite part is how the family therapist totally laid out Rick and Beth's entire damage and how they were utterly unwilling to accept it.

Fun fact: and I’m 40% sure one of the producers of the show confirmed this, the thing with people eating poop, remember how at the beginning of the season a bunch of people were living in the sewers to avoid the galactic federation, well apparently they didn’t pack enough food when they moved in down there and by the time they moved back to the surface they had developed a habit.

"The thing about repairing, maintaining and cleaning is it's not an adventure. There's no way to do it so wrong you might die. It's just work. The bottom line is, some people are okay with going to work and some people…well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose."

That was a foreign countries Embassy on U.S. soil, thats how he got there from the sewer. And going by action movie lore, that was probably gunpowder from disassembled bullets that was in the coffee filter. He used it to cauterize the wound.

So Dan Harmon was interviewed by GQ on RU-vid about the best moments of Rick and Morty and he said that this whole episode was actually a metaphor for alcoholism and that they actually took out and references to it so people wouldn’t figure it out until afterwards. You should watch the whole interview when you get the chance.

What Rick means in the after credits is that he would've never met jaguar if he went to therapy from the beginning, so jagaur can save him then.

7:20 It's because that character was originally written and drawn as asian but Susan Sarandon (white, and also super famous) wanted to be on the show so they had her voice the character. I imagine they're just not letting it go without comment in the show.

The canon reason is that he's always overdosing from the copious amounts of alcohol and other wayward substances he consumes, which is why he's always burping and always has vomit on his chin.

By turning himself into a pickle he literally "put himself in a pickle" (put himself in an awkward situation)

People shit on this episode for not having as much depth or being as "cleverly written" but this episode is a clear display of exactly how much of a fucking GENIUS Rick is, especially under dire circumstances, as well as the fact that he's an extremely flawed human being almost because of his genius. It's really sad that Rick would abandon his daughter at the drop of a hat (he says so on the plane with Jaguar, who actually wanted to reunite with his daughter if she was alive in another universe) and she's so devoted to him, yet they're both unwilling to face their problems. Its incredible how they managed to pull a whole premise out of that just using the strengths of the character to let the writing carry itself. It deserves the attention it got if we're being real. Also, great use of Susan Surandan.
