Another reason not to move where there is an HOA

I’m sound sensitive. This would drive me insane if it was near my house.

The station's slant was towards one family that lives in an HOA. I was interviewed for this report and agreed noise is an issue, I also supplied several remedies, non of which were aired. They also edited the sound greatly...balls are not hit with the frequency of the outcome displayed. I understand noise is an issue, I do not understand the biased reporting.

So. The news story has .05 seconds long segments of the ball popping. To make it hit home, I suspect you need to listen to it for a few hours before making a decision on it.

Is there a dorkier looking "sport" than pickleball? Good grief it makes shuffleboard look cool.

Build the courts indoors or far away from people’s homes.

You want to play Pickleball. PAY FOR AND BUILD YOUR OWN COURTS! Tennis players are pissed that these schmucks just took over without even asking tennis players how it affected them.

so you buy a nice house in an hoa, expecting peace. Large hoa fees, plus the hoa is another entity you want to keep tabs on to make sure your fees are spent correctly. Then this noisy sport is allowed close enough to your house that it constantly disturbs you. And you get called a 'karen' for complaining. If we record the sounds and play them close to where the pickleballers live, maybe then some empathy will be realized. Now I live about two hundred yards from a softball field where games are held as late as 10pm. At first I was pissed off...so much noise. Then I started paying attention...the sht talking and hooting and teasing each other was glorious! Sound bounces off the wall of my neighbor's house towards where we sit and smoke, and it can be quite clear and always entertaining. Then two doors down and across the street we have a gentleman who gets drunk and sings karioki every weekend...and he has an excellent speaker system. Also hilarious. Plus we live under the flight path for the Santa Rosa airport, and often have to stop talking for a bit while a plane or helicopter flies by. I don't even notice it anymore.

Pickleball is akin to listening to a large popcorn popper . When you have multiple players on 5/6 courts, the noise level can be bothersome. It's not as loud as firecrackers or other fireworks, but can be annoying if you live close to the courts. It's a fad similar to badminton of the '60s that will eventually fade. IT's just not that challenging of a game. Seniors like it because it's easy to hit the ball back and forth.

5:09 in....How to not answer a question and make it sound like you know what you are talking about...these courts need to be way outside of any housing area maybe in Industrial Parks or totally enclosed....

First world problems.

It's like when a helicopter goes by at a certain angle and the it resonates with air pressure in your ears. It is definitely very loud especially when more than 3 or 4 games being played at the same time. Cement walls, please. The people...can be just as annoying to deal with. Go play ping pong. 😊

turn the radio or TV up....people are active and enjoying life....these people probably complained about kids playing baseball or basketball too.....there are ways to adapt without ruining it for everybody...it sucks to get old

That’s why I play at indoor pickleball world in Chandler. Great spot! Plus once it gets hot AF in a couple months! You want to play indoors! No need to worry about all those HOA Karens and some of these other Scottsdale leftie peeps that are still wearing 😷 😭 🤪
